When I wake up the next morning I hear birds chirping.

Looking out my window I see several wolves patrolling. As I sit on the window sill watching the activity there is a sudden knock at the door.

"Who is it?" I ask.

"It's Axel, your guard." A deep voice calls out from the other side.

I open the door to see a guy with long light brown hair and blue eyes staring back at me. He had a couple piercings and tattoos up both arms.

"I'll be downstairs in a minute." I tell him before closing the door. Quickly, I take my morning shower and get dressed before making my way down to the living room. Axel sits in a chair in the corner of living room as I head to the fridge.

"Where's Jason?" I ask nervously.

"His office, he's been in there all night as far as I know."

"Oh." I grab an apple from the fridge. "Is it okay if I visit Olivia?"

Axel nobs, leaving his chair and walking to the door, waiting for me to follow. I can see he isn't much of a conversationalist.

After a short but awkward walk to the hospital we reach Olivia's hospital room. I notice someone sitting in the chair beside the bed, with their back to me, holding her hand. I see unkempt black hair and think it is Jason.

"Jason?"

The man stands up from his chair and turns to face me with an intimidating presence.

"Uh, I'm sorry, I, uh, thought you were Jason." I apologize profusely. Familiar cold, emotionless, brown eyes look down at me. Eyes like Jason's when I first met him.

"You're my son's mate?" His voice sounds angry.

"Y-yes." I managed to squeak a response.

"You're the reason my mate is like this! The Dark Moon pack left us alone till you arrived!" The man snaps bitterly.

"I......" I have no clue how to respond.

"Get out!" He picks the chair up and throws it across the room at me. Axel grabs my arm and pulls me behind him, blocking me from the man's rage.

I rush out of the room, dropping my half-eaten apple as Axel follows close behind. A tear pricks the corner of my eye as I quickly shift, running away from everyone. Axel calls after me, shifting to try and keep up with me but I quickly outrun him.

Coming to the pack's border where I was first captured, I quickly take a breath before running again. I hear howling in the distance and I know Jason has been alerted.

I run and come to a river, it should wash away my scent. After swimming across the cool, flowing waters of the river and reaching the other side I roll in mud. Then I continue my run as the clouds open up, unleashing the rain heavily upon the Earth.

Taking shelter under a tree I rest, watching the raindrops splash against the ground. The clash of thunder drowns out the sound of distant howling and the lightning flashes violently, evoking a whine from my wolf.

After the short rest I continue running, aiming to put as much distance between myself and the Blood Moon pack as possible. The rain still isn't letting up as lightning strikes a tree branch. With a loud crack it comes crashing down at me. I flinch, closing my eyes, readying myself for the pain when I feel something push me to the ground.

_____________Jason's P.O.V_____________

I'm running as fast as I can, following her scent. I want to tear Axel to shreds for losing her but right now my top priority is to find my mate.

Zane and a couple of the other wolves are following behind me, struggling to keep up as my paws kick up clumps of dirt. I feel my heart sink when the rain begins to fall. It will wash away her scent in no time. Realizing that time is of the essence I push myself faster, causing my lungs to burn.

The remainder of her scent brings me to a river. It's usually gentle waters are now a torrent, crashing hard against the rocks, causing the water to turn over white. I prepare to jump in, despite to reunite with my mate. My wolf is frantic, fearing the worst.

Before I can I hear Zane calling out behind me through the link. "Alpha, it is too dangerous to continue. We should head back till the storm subsides. We can then regroup and comb the woods for her."

"I don't care, she is my mate. I will find her even if it kills me. So turn back for all I care, but I'm going to keep searching." My voice rumbles out in a menacing growl and Zane flinches.

"Look, in weather like this she is most likely taking shelter herself. Killing yourself isn't going to help you find her."

I know Zane is right but my bond is pushing me to find her. Fighting the urge to continue looking for her, I head back to the house but first I let out a lone howl, praying to the Moon Goddess that I would hear her respond.

After nothing but the thunder as my response I head back to the house. Pushing open the front door, I drip water through the halls as I make my way to my room. After pulling on a pair of shorts I rush into the office and grab my phone.

I call all the neighboring packs, hoping that one of them have seen her but to no avail. None of the neighboring packs had seen anyone matching her description.

I feel sick with worry, between the storm and the Dark Moon pack there is a lot that could bring her harm. I feel a strong thud against the side of my chest, causing me to drop the phone, and my heart stops. Something just happened to her and my wolf is going mad.

"Bring Axel to me immediately." I snarl through the link. Moments later Axel slowly and cautiously enters the office.

"Yes, Alpha?"

"What happened? How could you let her run off like that?" I drum my fingers on the desk, trying to hold back my rage.

"I'm sorry Alpha, it wasn't my fault. She went to visit your mother at the hospital. Your father was there and blamed her for your mother's condition and started to attack her." Axel responds.

I can feel my nails digging into the wooden desk, carving deep gashes into it. I quickly dismissed him from the room before my claws switched from wood to flesh.
