The day of the meeting has come and I am getting ready. It is a highly formal event and alphas and Lunas from every pack will be there, so to say I'm nervous is an understatement. If every alpha is going to be there then so is the alpha of Dark Moon pack. With shaking hands I try to clasp my necklace till I feel Jason's hands on mine.

"Are you nervous?"

"Is it that obvious?" I sigh. "All the alphas are going to be there. What if the alpha of Dark Moon is there?"

"He can't do anything to you there. I promise." Jason's hands rub my shoulders, calming me down.

I finish getting ready, slipping into a midnight blue, floor length dress with off shoulder sleeves. Then, walking down the stairs I see Jason and Olivia sitting on the couch waiting for me. They turn to me and smile.

"Ready?" Jason smiles and holds his hand out to me. I nod.

"Have fun." Olivia's voice comes out as merely a whisper.

Jason brings me to a jet black Mercedes and opens the passenger door for me. Once seated I buckle my seatbelt and Jason gets into the driver's seat and begins to drive. I watch anxiously in the mirror as the packhouse disappears into the distance as we make our way down the bending road.

I nervously play with my thumbs till Jason clasps my hand with his and our fingers interlock. "Don't worry. If this was something dangerous I wouldn't be talking you."
I give him a timid nod in response.

Finally we arrive at a huge mansion and I get a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach. Jason brings my hand to his lips and gives it a quick peck. "Do you want to stay in the car for a while?"

I shake my head. "No, let's go."

Jason opens my door and takes my arm in his as we make our way to the big double doors of the mansion. As we approach, the doors opens and a middle-aged man with brown hair with specs of gray, and hazel eyes greets us.

"Alpha Owen." Jason and the middle aged man shake hands. "This is my mate, Kira."

"You finally found a mate? Well, I was hoping you'd take one of my daughters but this is fine." Owen's hazel eyes crinkle as he smiles. "Come, the others are waiting."

We are led to a large room with a table. All around it are alphas from every pack, as well as their lunas. In the far corner of the table there are two seats that are unoccupied. I'm guessing those seats were for my parents. Then my eyes meet the golden stare of a dark-haired man, a scar over his one eye.

I squeeze Jason's hand and he follows my stare. He gives me a knowing look and directs me to an unoccupied seat. Once everyone is seated the meeting commences, the golden eyed man never taking his eyes off of me.

"Alpha Erik, where is your mate? You know she is required to come." Owen asks.

"She wasn't feeling well." The golden eyed man responds.

"I'll make an exception this time." Owen says with a sigh.

"My pack needs more territory. Our pack has been expanding in numbers." One of the alphas speaks up.

"Yes, very well."

The meeting goes on for what seems like hours, discussing pack numbers and territory agreements. I can feel my hunger growing as I wait for the meeting to end. Finally we are dismissed.

"Everyone, please, enjoy some food and drink in the banquet hall." Owen smiles.

Everyone walks to the banquet hall and there is a large spread of food ready for us. I see some baked tomatoes and something deep down inside of me makes me want one. Taking it onto my plate I walked over to a table. Jason eyes me curiously as I dig in.

"I thought you didn't like tomatoes?" He smiles.

"I don't but I was in the mood for them." Even I find it a bit odd.

As Jason and I are about to leave we hear someone call out from behind us. "Jason." I turn and see the golden eyed man. Jason pulls me behind him, standing between us and blocking me from him.

"Kira, stay behind me." Jason whispers.

"Oh come on, I think your little mate can defend herself just fine." He sneers as he points to his eye.

"What do you want?" Jason's voice comes out as a threatening snarl making me jump.

"I don't want anything, I'm just wondering how pretty your mate would look with crimson cascading down her neck. I wonder if she would look prettier than your mother did." His voice sends a chill down my spine. Jason's fists clench, his knuckles turning white, and I begin to understand his game. He is trying to bait Jason into reacting.

"Jason just ignore him. Let's go." I grab Jason's arm and pull him with me.

"You can't run forever so you better watch your back." Erik calls out behind us as a threat.

In the car Jason slams his door shut, making me jump again. He starts the car and drives away, speeding down the road. A flash of brown fur bounds in front of the car and he slams on the brakes, narrowly missing the deer.

"Jason,....calm down." I tell him and his hands grip the steering wheel tighter.

"I can't calm down! He was talking about killing you! Don't you understand that?! It's taking everything in me not to turn around and kill him." His voice is shaking with anger.

"Right now you're driving is going to kill us, you're not thinking clearly. Maybe I should drive."

"No!....no..." I reach my hand out and rub his shoulder.

"It's ok, now please just be careful." I plead and he begins to drive again, this time carefully and I watch the forest beside the road passed by when I notice a white wolf in the tree line glaring at me but like a ghost it disappears in the thicket. I chalk it up to being just my imagination but I can't shake this unnerving feeling like I know them.
