Here I was allowing my best friend to talk me into going out on a Friday night. "Emma where is my straightener?" I yell throughout my house.
"Sorry!" She laughs letting me know she had once again stolen it from me.
"You seriously need to buy another one. We're gonna fry mine before we know it." I laugh as I walk into her room. "So is it just us going out tonight?" I ask falling onto her bed.
"Yes, and Ally and Jess. You need a girls night. Especially since you haven't gone out since..." She stops short catching the glare I'm giving her.
"We aren't talking about it remember." I warn her. You know those points in your life where you just want to forget what bad happened. Yea well I have about 3 years worth of that. They were the best worse 3 years ever though.
"Ashton it happened you have to face it. He was a major part of your life." I roll my eyes at Emma's preaching to me.
"I know he was and I have accepted it but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it." I say crossing my arms over my chest. "Now if I can have my straightener I am going to finish getting ready." I stand up and head towards her bathroom.
"Wait if your hair is curled why do you need the straightener?" She calls after me.
"Don't worry about it!" I yell back, really I just wanted mine back seeing as she's broken 3 this year.
Stepping into my closet I sigh. Just a few months ago I never though I would find myself here. Earlier this year was happily sitting in a big comfy office in Boston watching my boyfriend sit the bench for the New England Patriots. Now here I am back in Georgia working for my moms company instead of living the dream. I was dating Jimmy Garoppolo formerly known as the back up QB for Tom Brady. I met Jimmy when playing softball on scholarship at Eastern Illinois University. Jimmy was two years older than me so I was honestly surprised when we stayed together for my last two years of school. Everything for us changed though when he got traded to the 49ers for the 2017 season. I finished the season working marketing for the 49ers but let me just say seeing Jimmy almost daily for 2 1/2 months after breaking up was awful.
I've only been home two weeks at let me say they have been long. "Ok so we decided we're getting you trashed tonight." Emma announces walking back into my room.
Emma has been my best friend and partner in crime since we were babies. Our dads were best friends and ended up working at the same company together so now we have been raising hell on this earth for 23 years.
"Great." I chuckle sliding into my white pants. "Are we staying in one bar tonight or bar hopping?" I ask pulling my shirt on over my head.
Emma looked at me as if I was dumb. "Hopping got it." I say. "How do I look?" I ask doing a little spin.
"Hot. All the boys will be over you tonight." She smirks.
I roll my eyes grabbing my keys off the counter and throwing them into my wallet. If I'm being honest I forgot what go out was like here.
"I doubt that." I say fluffing my hair.
"No seriously look." She holds the phone up and I immediately pose. Emma, thank God is a photographer so I never worry about bad pictures with her. "See you're smoking."
Looking at the phone the pictures actually is really cute. "Ok send me that I'm posting it." I laugh.
"Perfect! Now come on we're meeting the girls."
"Ok. Ok I'm going." I follow after her.
Our Uber was waiting out front so we hopped in it. I was excited to see the girls. Ever since moving home I haven't really been able to see them. "Can I caption your photo for you?" Emma asks making me weary.
