It definitely started with the X Factor. Looking back now, if I hadn't auditioned that year, I never would have had the chance to meet Louis. That was the only reason that we could come up with on how we would have met, with me living in Malvern and him in Doncaster.
I remember that day perfectly clearly; the nervousness I was feeling. I stood backstage with my nan, granddad, mum, and my baby brother. Funny; I called him my "baby" brother, when he was quite a bit larger than me.
When it was my turn to go out, I let out a little nervous/excited squeal and walked out on stage, trying to put on an air of confidence. I didn't want to seem to terribly nervous in front of the judges. When I came out, the audience cheered and clapped and whistled, helping to calm my nerves. No booing yet!
"Hello." Louis, one of the judges said, smiling warmly at me.
"Hello." I grinned back, flashing him and the audience a winning smile.
"What's your name?" he asked, like they asked all the other contestants.
"My name's Cher." I replied easily.
This was the easy part. Smile, be friendly, sweet. I could do this. This was simple.
"Is that your real name?" he asked, seeming disbeliefed at first.
"Yeah." I chuckled nervously.
"Are you called it because of Cher the singer?" Louis asked.
"Uh, I think so. I think that's why my mum called me that. I'm not sure." I mused.
"Okay, and where are you from?" he asked again, sort of shuffling his papers.
"I'm from Malvern in Worcestershire." I said, earning more cheers from the crowd.
"Okay, and uh Cher, what age are you now?"
"I'm 16." I said, a slight smile on my face.
"Only 16?!" he asked, shocked now.
"Yeah." I chuckled again, my nervousness returning.
The crowd started cheering and clapping again, helping to diminish my nervousness.
"Wow! You look more!" Louis laughed. "What do your family think of all this?"
I touched my hair nervously.
"Uh, they're erally supportive. They're backstage." I smiled, pointing towards where they were standing.
"And Cher, what are you gonna sing for us?" he asked finally.
"I'm gonna sing Turn my Swag on by Soulja Boy, but I'm gonna sing the Keri Hilson verson of it."
"Okay! Off you go then!" Louis smiled at me.
I took a nervous breath, smiling a bit when the music finally started.
This was it. This was my moment.

The crowd erupted, and I could barely contain my excitement.
"Cheryl!" Louis chuckled. "Does Cher have the X Factor?"
"Cher, you are RIGHT up my street." Cheryl told me, a genuine smile on her face. "You are RIGHT up my street."
I laughed happily. I couldn't believe this!
"You're actually my favorite audition so far." she told me.
"Thank you." I smiled, so appreciative.
"You've got a bit of attitude there.' she added.
"I think you're gorgeous." the other female judge said, smiling at me. "Uhm. I can feel that you're really nervous."
"Yeah." I told her, kind of upset that it was obvious enough for her to pick up on.
"But you've got so much potential, and you've got something really unigue, uhm, to your voice as well, I thought that was really good."
The crowd roared in excitement at her words.
"You're onyl 16, you've got great confidence, you've got a great image, you were absolutely born to be a popstar." Louis praised me, making me smile even wider than before.
"Louis yes or no?" Simon asked.
"Cher, 100% yes." Louis said.
"Definitely a yes for me." The other female judge said.
"100% yes from me." Cheryl said.
"Cher." Simon said, looking at his papers. "That was a great, great audition. There's something special about you. And I really really like you Cher. I really do."
OHMYFREAKINGGOD!!!!! I was like...totally fangirling over here.
"It's 100% yes."
"Oh thank you so much." I breathed. It was all that I could get out. "Thank you." Before I ran off the stage, right into the arms of my nan, and then my mym. I had made it! All four of them said YES. I was one step closer to my dream!!
