                  Division 1

I stood in the front of the council members, shaking. I looked in the broken glass that lie in front of me and saw my eyes, my violet eyes shimmering as tears ran down my face. I brushed them away fiercely, hoping that no one saw me.

I wanted to scream at them, I did nothing! I looked around the room, at the people behind me, and saw disgust in some eyes, hatred in others. Only as I looked at my best friends did I see commitment, hope and determination.

Hearing a door open, I looked up to see the council leader, Mexil walking in. I looked back at my best friends, all contrasting against one another; Zaya, Lyvity, all of them there except one. I looked at Zaya and mouthed “Where is Mina?” Zaya looked backed at me and shrugged.

I turned back towards Mexil and saw that he was looking at me. “I said, please rise Miss. Lockwood.” I looked down at my feet, my cheeks burning. “Yes Mexil, I mean sir. I apologize for any inconveniences.” “Yes well, we don’t have time for you to be wasting. Need I not remind you, you are the one on trial, not me.” I opened my mouth to speak and Mexil looked at me, an eyebrow raised. “ Is there something you wish to say to me?” “Uh—No sir, I do not.” “Great then,” he told me and then looked out to everyone else.

“Everyone we are gathered here today for trial, on yet another Lockwood. This is because, she has broken a law. Yet, the Dyphons, our Fates, have called her The Last Salvation.

In this court room she will be treated as any individual on trial and will not be given special treatment, none whatsoever.” I looked up at him in shock, as he looked at me with disgust. “Look at her face."

"Obviously all she has had is special treatment. For look upon her face and see her shock in my announcement,” as he said this, almost everyone in the court room gasped.

“Objection!”, the judge yelled. He looked at the judge for a second, “ Is there a problem, your honor?” “Yes there is a problem. You may not assume anything just by the expressions someone wears. She could have simply been surprised at your judgment, but instead you accused her of having something she may not have had.”

Mexil looked slightly angry but answered calmly, “Yes, your honor. That is simply my fault. Please excuse my comments.” The judge nodded at him before waving her hand to resume the case.

Mexil walked around the room, thoughtfully. “The law that this Lockwood has broken is simply the law of dis-obeying specific order and command.”

He looked at me then, “Did you not break that law, Miss. Lockwood?” “Yes I did, sir. I did indeed break that law.” “Ha. She admits that she did it.”

Zaya’s hand shot up the same time as she spoke, “In truth, sir, we have all broken that law. Hers just so happened to be just a little bit more extreme. But she did it for a good reason, sir. She was only trying to help a wounded baby fairy.

"And, in fact, she still does have that very same fairy now. That fairy will tell any of you that Orcid, only tried to help. Also, we helped her sneak out to help the fairy because Orcid is just one of those people. The kind of people that will help anybody and anything, if it does come to that.”

“Therefore, that same night we do admit that we; Mina, Lyvity and myself Zaya, were there that exact night it happened. Plus, you have to give Orcid a chance to explain herself, because you haven’t done that yet. She’s just been standing there as you walk around boasting things.”

Mexil looked at Zaya for a second, his eyes blazing. “You incompetent little girl—“ “Overruled by the judge. Mexil, give the girl a chance to speak.” Zaya looked back at him with a look of satisfaction and sat down happily. He looked at me and said, “Well, what do you have to say?”
