Chapter 7- Just a Picture
“Aw this is cute, definitely going on Instagram.” Harry laughed. It was a picture of me and him that Zayn took. I was mortified; I didn’t want him to post it. It wasn't particularly a bad picture; no hugging or anything, but I knew that the fans were protective of their boys. “Harry, don’t post it.” I said.
It was too late.
Within seconds, his picture got hundreds of likes. But there were many comments. “Who’s the girl?” “OMG Harry, who’s the girl?” “Why are you giving a piggyback ride to that girl?” “Is she your girlfriend?” “Is she a fan?” and so on.
“Argh, Harry. Now the whole fandom thinks you’ve got a girlfriend.” I said.
“No they don’t.” He shrugged. “Eh, yes they do.” Liam said. He showed us his Twitter. “@Real_Liam_Payne who’s the girl that Harry gave a piggyback ride to?” there were thousands of these questions. It showed up on all the boys’ Twitter. “Only 1 single now”, “5 boys, 4 taken, 1 single”
“Oh great. This is just splendid, Harry.” I crossed my arms. “Don’t worry I’ll fixed it.” He reassured me. “I’m not sure if you can.” Louis said “Why?” I frowned. “Because ‘Harry and a girl’ is trending now.” I was speechless. I looked at the Twitter trending “Hayler is trending too… How did they find out my name?” I stared at my phone dumbfounded. “What’s Hayler?” Niall asked.
“It’s like a ship. Like Niam, remember Niall?” Liam answered. “Oh, I get it. Skyler and Harry.” Niall chuckled. “It’s not funny.” I snapped. “She’s right mate,” said Zayn “This isn’t good.”
Harry’s head snapped up “Why is that Zayn? Is it because someone is, dare I say, jealous?” he winked at me. I frowned “Shut up Harry.” I mouthed.
“You seem to be forgetting that I have a freaking girlfriend, Harry.” Zayn half yelled. I tried to stop the fight “Harry, think before you say something stupid. Zayn, I’m sorry, he’s just kidding. Aren’t you Harry?” I gave him a death glare. He cringed “Yes, ma’am.”
“What’s going on?” Eleanor walked into the room sleepily. She sat on Louis’ lap. “Wait Skye, don’t you have to get ready for your date with Austin?”
I completely spaced out on that. “Oh yeah, I should get ready.” I was still depressed. “Are you okay Skye?” Eleanor asked. She sounded very concerned. I explained everything to her. “Don’t worry Skye. Nothing is going to happen.” She didn’t sound very convincing; I doubt she even convinced herself.
“I’ll just tweet something. Yeah, everyone will know that I’m not dating Harry.” I suggested.
Eleanor got up. “That’s a good idea. Yeah do that. And, if you need me, I’ll be in my room; I have to get Skye’s things ready for her date today.” She winked and left.
“Well, go ahead Skye. I guess we have nothing to lose.” Liam said. I nodded and got up to get my Laptop. I waited for it to boot up, and then connected it to the hotel’s internet. I open Twitter and signed in.
Yeah, bad choice.
My mentions were spammed with both hate and support messages “Back off, Harry’s mine.” “You stole Harry from me.” “You’re doing this for attention, you’re pathetic.” And some good ones; “You’re beautiful, Harry is a lucky guy.” “Aw how cute you two J xxx” “You guys are adorable.” I felt my vision get blurry. I was crying.
“Skye, are you OK?” Harry and Zayn ran to my side. I shook my head “Look, they hate me. Why?” I sobbed like a baby. “It’s OK, Skye. Don’t cry.” Zayn wiped my tears away with his thumb. “They’re not worth your tears.”
