Yuri stared at the poem she had written uncertainly. Monika's theme for today was something that made her angry. And yes, while the topic she had chosen was something that she felt strongly about, was she actually angry about it?

Or just sad?

*

The flowers, the hill, the never-ending bliss,
All captured in the small time of an hour.
Where the small girl laughed and span and smiled,
Now she's angry,
Now she's gone.

We had such special, special times,
Blissful, pure and free,
Our imagination stretched beyond,
The moon, the stars, the skies,
As we played and dawdled,
Skipped and capered.
Those moments, though, can never repeat,
because,
Now she's angry,
Now she's gone.

Was it me? Was it he?
Something went wrong, nothing went right.
A left turn in the important fork
Of the path of her destiny.
She can't even backtrack, she can't even cry.
Because now she's angry,
Now she's gone.

She thinks her sad gaze goes amiss,
And yet I notice every time.
Gazing at her broken expression,
My heart aches for her paining soul.
Now I'm angry,
Now she's gone.

Was she actually angry about that? Sighing, Yuri screwed the paper up into a tight, rumpled ball, and threw it in the bin, not noticing that it landed nowhere near.

She grabbed her pen unenthusiasticly, a sheet of paper and forced herslef to write something quickly. It probably wouldn't be very good quality, but it would have to suffice.

It ended up being something about tea. Yuri didn't actually get angry about tea, but she didn't really care. It would have to do; she'd just write an extremely expressive poem later for the next day.

Noticing how much time she still had left before she had to leave for the first lesson, Yuri eagerly grabbed her book, and began to read.

She stayed silent for a few minutes, the only noise coming from the occasional page turn and breaking the silence of the room.

Until... The door slammed open and whacked against the wall, making a loud bang resonate around the room. Yuri unknowingly let out a small yelp, a mixture of fear, shock and surprise.

She looked up, to see Natsuki with a crestfallen expression on her face. "Sorry 'bout that, I was just gonna get something and I didn't realise there was someone else in the room," she apologised, slowly backing out of the room.

"This is what reading horror does to you," she shakily murmured to herself, taking a deep, calming breath. Natsuki started moving backwards faster, to Yuri's dismay.

"Well, I was just coming to get- you know what? I can get it later..." Natsuki was almost through the doorway, Yuri noticed.

"No, Natsuki, it's alright! Just come and get what you need!" Yuri placed a small bookmark on the page she'd just about finished, standing up quickly and forcing a smile. "I was just going, anyway, to the library. I want to borrow another book to read."

"Yeah, well, it's fine, I don't really need it anyway. It can wait until later. It's not that important," Natsuki snapped hostily, running through the door and pausing.

"The-" Yuri was cut off as the door slammed in the face, barely missing her nose as she heard Natsuki run away through the corridor.

She felt her eyes sting. Why couldn't they just get along? Why was it so hard? Why did Natsuki hate her so much? What made her so unlikeable?

Running her hands through her hair, she opened the door again. The corridor was empty - albeit a few students wandering aimlessly around.

Groaning quietly to herself, she decided that the library would actually be a good place to go; maybe she would actually borrow a book, like she'd told Natsuki she would.

Yuri smiled to herself as she made her way to the library. Contrary to what everybody thought about her, the library wasn't really a place that she visited often. It was more of a thing she did when she had to do it, because she was lucky enough to live right next to a small bookstore.

The scent of books was the first thing she noticed as she opened the door to the large, open school library. With a free, circular space in the middle spotted with a few desks covered in books and or students working, Yuri decided to check out a quieter area first.

The area she'd chosen was relatively empty, only a few students scattered around doing something or the other. Yuri quietly chose an empty table, carefully placing her bag on the chair.

She noticed a table that everybody there seemed to avoid. They veered away from the table uncomfortably, some looking used to it, the others confused.

She decided not to go there. There was probably someone doing an important exam or a teacher, or something, so she didn't want to disturb them. As she walked in the opposite direction to another bookshelf, she caught a flash of light pink in her peripheral vision.

Doubling back on herself, Yuri turned herself around and peered around the corner cautiously. Sure enough, Natsuki was there, silently cussing to herself as she grabbed a pen and paper, and began scribbling furiously.

Every time that somebody entered the small, enclosed section, she looked up angrily and glared at them, essentially telling them to "fuck off" with a simple look.

She decided  not to bother Natsuki, instead looking at the clock at the wall, noting that it was almost time for her first period - Maths.

In other words, the one subject that Yuri absolutely detested.

She sighed, remembering that she had came to borrow a book, which she hadn't done. Grabbing her bag, she decided the best thing to do would be to just leave, in case Natsuki noticed her and thought she was following her.

Besides, she couldn't really skip Maths, as horrible as it was. But she wished she could.
