Chapter 4

After dinner, mom insisted Winwin to send him home. He didn't reject her. "Can I come?" i gestured but Mom said no. From excitement to disappointment. "Honey, just stay here, I ordered a cosmetic from my old friend, Lina. Please wait for it. The money is on the top of the fridge."

I know her. Ms. Lina is my mom's bestfriend. She used to come to our house and bring her child so that we can play. Well, that's long time ago, I don't even remember their faces even their names.

This is unfair.

"Don't worry, she already knows that you'll be the one who'll receive it," she reminded.

"Take care!" I gestured to both of them.

I had no choice but to follow her. I watched them leave without me. This is very unfair. I think I should be the one who'll send him home. I repeat, this is so unfair!

Suddenly, i heard a doorbell. I quickly opened the door. To my surprise, it is someone who I barely know. I just saw him eating alone in the canteen lately.

"Here's the cosmetics," he said and reached for the bag of whatever is that thing. I was stunned in my place while examining his face. I didn't even realized that my head is tilted to thw right. I slowly went near him and hesitantly gave him a hug. I cannot believe that he's my childhood friend! I cannot believe that he's the son of my mother's bestfriend.

Isn't weird that I just hugged him? What if he doesn't remember me? Or what if he is really not the boy who I was trying to talk to. Maybe he's the brother or uncle of my old friend, Nana. Oh my gosh. I quickly let go but he hugged me tightly.

"How's life, Lili?" he asked. He still remembers my nickname. Well, not really, he just called me 'Lili' when I was 5 because his nickname was 'Nana'. He let me go and smiled sweetly. Now I get it! Now I know why his smile is very familiar. I gave him a thumbs up.

"I can't believe you actually forgot me," he sighed. That is 13 years ago. How can I remember him when we just met twice? I gave him a 'dude-are-you-serious-look'. He just chuckled. I bet he just remembered me when her mom told him to give it to 'the daugher of Mrs. Park, Lia, your childhood friend when you are only 5'.

I remember our first meet. Memories suddenly flashed. He is very confused why am i not able to speak. He thought that my parents doesn't teach me. We decided to talk by writing on a paper.

He changed a lot. His voice became deeper. He's taller than me now. He became more handsome.

"See you tomorrow, Lia. I gotta go." I gave him the money before he left. See you tomorrow, Nana.

I went upstairs and walked straightly inside my room. I immediately texted my bestfriend, Winwin, to check if he is already at home. I waited for five minutes but i don't receive any replies from him. Hay, I bet he's busy for his self-review.

Wednesday morning, I saw Winwin in our classroom. Suddenly, someone grabbed me until we get inside the music room.

"Hi, Lia."

It took her a minute before she could continue what she was going to say.

"I-I have noticed that Winwin is beside you for years. I hope you don't mind." Then paused. ".. but can you please give him a chance to spend his time with his friends?" someone said.

Of course, I can! It is not that I own him. He's freely to come with his friends anyways. I will be happy for that idea.

"I don't know but I missed seeing him together with Mark and the others. He doesn't look happy at all. I missed his smile." I heaved a sigh. I think about that a long time ago. He's always beside me for almost five years. I rarely see him having fun with Haechan and the others. He rarely asks a permission to me so I bet he rarely meet with his friends too.

Maybe it's time. It's time to let him have some fun. I slighly nodded, trying to understand her point. She's right. I watched her walked away from me. She's Yna, my groupmate in volleyball, the girl who admires my bestfriend.

I went back to our classroom. Yna looked at me and smiled. I walked straightly to my seat as if nothing happened. Am I being selfish for four years? I lift my head and took a glance to Winwin. I averted my gaze to others when I saw him looking at me. Guilt took over me. Chill, Lia. You will only give him some spaces. Stop being selfish. It is for his own good, anyways. You'll not lose him.

I didn't pay attention to my teacher for two hours. I'm just finding some right words to say. Should I tell him? What should I say? I didn't realize that it was already break time. I was startled when I saw him standing in front of me.

I blinked my eyes a couple of times.

"It is already break time. Let's go," he said. He pulled my wrist but i pulled it back. He looked at me confused.

"I'm not hungry," i gestured. He heaved a sigh. I thought he's goingm to leave but he went behind me and sat on his seat while reading a book.

I glanced at the door and I saw Yna standing there, signaling me to come near her. I told Winwin that I'll just go to the comfort room. He told me that he'll come with me and just wait outside but I stopped him. He had no choice but to wait here. I sneaked out.

"Follow me," I followed Yna and we went inside the comfort room.

"I guess there's one thing you have to do to make him follow you," she started. I looked at her confused. I wonder what she's thinking. Do I really have to do this? Why should I follow her? Of course, for the sake of Winwin's happiness. I smiled bitterly.

How am I sure that he's not happy with me? See? I'm being selfish again.

"Avoid him." I immediately looked at her right after she spilled that heavy two words. Someone please tell me that she's joking. This is not funny.

"I know you don't want your bestfriend to be sad forever."
