Draft day. The day millions have been waiting for. The day where your life could change instantly by being drafted or bidded by a Guardian. The city was alive with thousands littering the arena to get to the center of the meeting grounds and watch as their destiny was unfolded.
Flying ships and pods loudly pass overhead. Floating food carts crowd the sides and corners trying to catch the hungry soul. Poverty stricken families watch from the shadows of alleyways to see if their child has a shot at a better future than they did. All of this goes on on the greatest of days...Draft day.
Jonah - "Dude we're 13 man!!! We are now ready to be Disciples!"
Zack - "Yeah. I know. We have been training so hard for this moment. Finally."
Jonah - "So what do you think about all those guys from Rose? The ones who will get bidded because they have special abilities or rich families?"
Zack - "Man, screw them. They are all full of themselves anyway. They don't even need to be Disciples for their life to change. They're already set simply because of their families wealth and positions of power. I think some of their special abilities are artificial and not natural abilities that they were born with."
Jonah - "Dude!!! That's so true man. I never thought of that. They really could be."
BURBUUUURRRRR!!!
Zack - "Oh that's the draft horn! We have to head over to the meeting grounds near the Capital! Let's go Jonah!"
Jonah - "Right behind you brother!"
Zach and Jonah head over to the meeting grounds near the Capital on planet National. They run into thousands of other young nervous energetic Disciple candidates of different sizes and ages. Some who have been here years passed before and didn't make it and others who this is their very first time.
As they approached the meeting grounds and looked at the big screens all over the area, the bidding for the 30 top candidates was coming to an end.
Jonah - "Dude!!! Mark Zest was #17 in the bid! He got that well known Guardian candidate Clay Foust who had already raised up like 300,000 merits doing work for the Howard family of Rose. They say he has killed more than 200 dirt dogs! Those things are evil man! They eat all your livestock and they have a poisonous bite. Dude Mark is lucky. Clay is the real deal already."
Zack - "Yeah, you're right man. But did you hear about the Guardian who has like 7 Disciples already? And he was bidding this time around as well? That's insane! Like you have to have a ton of merits to even bid for 1 Disciple. He has to care for 7 already and has enough to bid again? What's his name again?"
Jonah - "Victor Noir! Yeah I've heard of him! No one has had those many Disciples since Logan London hundreds of years ago. And even then they said Logan was just using them as human bulletproof vest in the war against the Ill-Sworn from the outer parts of Zion. But we're not in war right now so I don't know why Victor is adding more to his group or even how he is able to afford them all. But oh well...his merits."
The announcing of all of the bid candidates was coming to an end. And the top three were about to be shown on the screen.
Jonah - "Dude, top 3! Top 3!!! Here we go! Who made it?"
The loud speakers announced loudly, "AND THE TOP 3 CANDIDATES FOR THIS FALL YEAR BIDDING IS...RYAN WESLIN AT 3RD, HOSEA VONSO AT 2ND, AND GALIERA MORTE AS THE NUMBER 1 PICK AND HIGHEST BIDDED CANDIDATE!!!!"
Jonah and Zack together - "A GIRL???!!!!"
