"What did you do to her?" Cameron asked uncertainly as he looked at Rachel who was holding the now unconscious Jacie.
"I just made her sleep. She's fine. I'll take her back to her house and clear her memories. She won't remember the fight or running into you two tonight. Derrick, please take my car to the house. I'm going to fly her before she wakes up, and the last thing I need is for someone to see her and think something suspicious if I haul her to the car. Cameron, please go to my house. Get Aron on your way." Rachel said in her ever so demanding tone.
With Jacie under a temporary spell, there was no risk of Jacie hearing anything she shouldn't and Rachel could finally talk freely. Derrick looked at her with a frown, clearly not pleased with being given orders. "I'll take her. It'll be easier for me. You go get Aron." he demanded.
Rachel glared at him but knew it was no use arguing. It would give her the chance to speak with Cameron alone and to see Aron as well, though she was still reluctant to hand her best friend over to him. Adoptive family or not, she couldn't stand him most of the time, though rarely they did get along. Now would have to be one of those times. She handed Jacie over to him and he held her close and gazed down at her longingly. Cameron growled but kept his mouth shut. A large set of shimmering black feathered wings erupted from between Derrick's shoulder blades and he took off into the air. Rachel and Cameron both watched him, both uneasy. "Why him." Cameron bit out coldly.
"Because I didn't feel like arguing. She has to find out eventually but now isn't the time. However, after tonight we need to discuss things. All four of us. She always finds out but it's when she finds out the truth that the curse triggers, and she dies soon after. We can't risk it. This is the longest peaceful life she's had since her first. Derrick can't know that I've been with her in every life. He'd be furious if he knew how many times I never told him that I'd always been with her. Come on, let's get Aron."
Rachel started walking up the beach and back to her car with Cameron following close behind, shoving his hands into his pockets. He was bruised, covered in sand, and even a little bloody, but the blood wasn't his own. Despite his roughed up appearance, somehow he was still gorgeous, but that was just one of the perks of being an angel. Another perk was the ability to heal quickly. "Speaking of... Let's put her aside. What's up with you and Aron? Dude was completely dazed after his party. I know you had something to do with it, so what gives?" Cameron asked curiously as he walked next to her, a soft smile playing his lips as Rachel lit red from head to toe.
"Nothing is up. Things are the same as always."
"I know you're lying. Come on Ray. Tell me."
Rachel looked over and smiled slightly. "Aron and I just had some one on one bonding time is all. We haven't had that in a while and we, may or may not, have kissed."
Her eyes sparkled and Cameron smirked at her words. "Is that all?"
"Anything else is forbidden. Even that in itself is forbidden. He's an elite..." she said with a sigh, heart dropping as she remembered the sad and painful truth.
"There's a lot of forbidden acts being done, and so far the world hasn't unraveled. I think you'll be fine."
"He could lose his title and I could lose my grace. I don't care on my end but I can't do that to him."
"Trust me. He would give up his title in a heartbeat if it meant keeping you. He holds his title and his honor high but if you're in trouble, he will always put you first. I'm surprised you both held out this long. I mean really. How long is that? Some odd thousand years or such?"
