My heart pounded harshly in my chest as Derrick pulled away, his hands gently cupping my face. I opened my eyes and stared at him. He had a strange look on his face, a mixture of guilt and longing that I couldn't quite understand. His thumb gently caressed my cheek and I bit my lip which was throbbing with the desire to kiss him again, to once again take in that wonderful feeling.

"I'm sorry, princess. I know I was mad at Cameron for doing the same thing but I just... I couldn't help myself." he said softly, his voice clear with guilt.

It took me a bit before I was able to find my voice but I managed and finally spoke as a blush crept to my cheeks. "N-no it's fine... I... I enjoyed it..." I stuttered nervously.

"Did you? If it upset you, you can tell me. I don't want to do anything that'll hurt or upset you." he replied uncertainly, and I nodded.

"Really... If I'm being honest, it's something I"ve kind of wanted to do, for a while... I don't usually think about those things but with you, I couldn't help it."

I bit my lip again then looked at Derrick, meeting his eyes and he grinned, making me blush more. "So I'm not the only one? That's a relief. I've been waiting a while to do that, but I wasn't sure how you'd feel since more often than not we don't always get along, which is honestly mostly my fault."

"That doesn't mean we can't get along now," I said with a smile and he smiled back.

"True. Jacie, would you say yes if I asked you to be my girlfriend?"

Feeling my heart leap at his words, I was perhaps a bit too excited as I kissed him again and he kissed back. "Yes. Yes, I would. Under one condition."

        "And that is?"

"You have to at least try to be friendly with Cam. Even if you can't be friendly to him, please ignore him. No more fights or snarky remarks to anything he says or does. He's my friend, I need you to accept that and respect it."

"Done. If that's what it takes then it's done. I like you a lot, even if I haven't done the greatest job of showing it, but I will prove it. No more fights, I promise."

"Then yes. I will gladly be your girlfriend."

He grinned happily and hugged me tightly, and we sat down on the beach and stared out at the waves. Derrick held me close and I leaned against him as we sat there in blissful silence. After a bit, I shivered as the cold air from the ocean breeze started to get to me and Derrick slipped off his hoodie and gave it to me. I joked about him never getting it back and he shrugged and said it was fine and that he expected nothing less. Not too long after that, we decided to head back to the truck and we got in and headed home. When we got to my house, I went inside to make something quick for us to have for dinner and Derrick stayed out by his truck. When I walked out, he was sitting in the back of his truck and he looked at me and smiled, a guitar in his hand. Curious, I walked over and crawled into the bed of the truck which had a mass thick pile of blankets and pillows spread out making a cushioned bed, and handed him his plate of food.

"Where the hell did you get a guitar and where did all these blankets come from?" I asked curiously as I sat on the side of the truck.

"Everything was in the back seat. And yes, this was all planned, in case you were wondering," he replied with a grin then he took a bite of food.

"look at you being all mister romantic. Taking me somewhere beautiful to ask me out, bringing a guitar, and making a nice little bed in the back of your truck. How cute." I said as I giggled and began eating.
