Ashton and I were walking down the street back to another mini mart. I watched as Ashton went in alone. I waited on the curb ready to run just in case. I was resting with my chin resting on my knees. My hair fell over my legs and I watched how the blond almost reached the ground because of its length. I was interrupted when I felt a person sit down next to me. They sat down right next to me and I didn't understand why, there was so much room on the side of the road.
I looked over to notice that it was a girl. She had short brown hair that just fell past her shoulders.
"Um, can I help you?" I asked.
"Oh no, I'm just waiting for my boyfriend to finish in the mart." She said.
"Oh yeah, me too." I said still wondering why she was sitting so close to me. I went back to admiring my hair length.
"So, are you on the run or something?" She asked.
"Um, sorta. How did you know?" I asked slightly confused on how she knew that.
"Oh, no one stays in this town just a pit stop. You were either on the run or on a road trip, and I know that if you were on a road trip you would be in that store with your boyfriend because this place is scary." She rambled as if it was the easiest thing in the world to predict someone that easy.
"Oh." Is all I said as I took a long look at her face to finally take in what she looked like. "So what about you. On the run?" I ask, feeling like I knew the answer.
"Something like that." She said while smirking.
"Hey babe, lets go!" I heard and looked up thinking it was Ashton. I looked up to be meeted with a boy with green hair that seemed to be fading. I saw the girl next to me get up. She took the receipt out of the boys hand and took a pen out of her back pocket and wrote something down. She handed it to me.
"Here, just in case you want to stay a place for a while and get to know some people." She said.
"Oh, I don't have a phone." I said while looking up from the paper.
"Use a payphone. Its worth it." She said as she grabbed the green boys hand. I looked back to the paper and saw a dash with the name Cate next to it.
"Thanks Cate." I said while she walked away with the boy. "I'm Elissa by the way." I said and she smiled waving.
"I'll see you later Elissa." She said as she leaned into the boy as they walked away. I went back to my recent position until I heard screaming from the convenience mart.
"HEY KID GET BACK HERE!" I heard and knew that Ashton was caught.
"Elissa get the truck." I heard Ashton scream. I started running when I spotted a van coming towards us and saw Cate roll down her windows.
"Hop in we will grab your boyfriend." She said. I hopped in the car and they drove over to Ashton as he hopped into the van. He looked very confused as the car took off down the road.
"What the hell Elissa, I told you to get the car not jump in a strangers." Ashton said while dropping all of the food out onto the van floor.
"I'm Cate. This is Michael." Cate said while introducing herself. "I met your girlfriend while you were stealing in the store with my boyfriend here." She said while pointing towards Michael.
"Oh yeah, dude love the hair." Ashton said while finally emptying out his pockets of the rest of the stuff he stole.
"So it's not safe to take you back to your car yet so I guess we will take you to our secret hide out." Cate said.
"Yeah, thats cool." I said while leaning onto Ashtons shoulder and kissing his cheek waiting to see what kind of people we will be meeting within the next minutes.
