"Welcome to Clingford High! Welcome back, for our old Dolphins, and for our new students, welcome to our pod!"

Pod?

Like a pod of dolphins?

Time to rethink my choices.

"We have an outstanding group of seniors this year. I truly believe that they will strive to uphold the school's name."

Confidence, I like it.

Nevermind, I like this school.

Vana scoffed. "He says that every year." I chuckled. I zoned out of the principal's droning welcoming speech. I saw the students chatting with each other in soft whispers, not loud enough to be heard by the teachers up at the front of the auditorium. No one was listening to him, merely just living in a world of their own. I looked around. The auditorium had a high ceiling, with a bunch of those big heavy black spotlights at the side. Seas upon seas of heads, everyone living in their own little bubble. Vana was next to me, looking at her nails. I saw some teachers walk up to the stage. I admired the handiwork of the lights above us. Ten lights in a row, some lights coming out of the walls at the side.

"Let us welcome our sports teams!" The principle practically yelled into the microphone. Everyone started cheering and clapping. Some of them even stood up and started jumping in excitement. I truly believe that sports bring us together. Any school that I attended, there is always the jock who everyone worships. Girls, because he's hot. Boys, because he's the god. Teachers, because he's the model student, has good grades, and brings up the school's name.

The cheerleaders come out first. They start doing their stunts, and I noticed the blonde. I turned towards Vana.

"Is that -- "

"Yup, that bitch you talked to. She's the new cheer captain. It's only the first day of school and she is acting like she owns the school already. Pathetic," Vana spat.

After the cheerleaders finished their performance, the soccer boys came out first. They were lean, not very tall I guess. The crowd politely clapped when they stepped off the stage.

"They never won a game. I don't know why the school didn't cut off their fundings," said Vana.

"Next, please welcome our girl's volleyball team!" The crowd cheered and whooped. The lights dimmed and a single spotlight was on the middle person, Avery.

"Avery Hale, captain of the volleyball team, lead our school to regionals last year, and brought back a runner-up trophy."

Hale.

Avery Hale.

All hail Avery Hale.

What is wrong with me.

Avery took a step forward. For every step she took, one girl on each side took a step forward as well, creating a triangle. It was simple, yet when the girls performed the formation, it looked absolutely stunning.

Vana suddenly stood up. "Excuse me," she said. I swung my legs to the left allowing her to pass. I watched as she walked down the aisle to the front row. She nodded to someone out of my sight before sitting down. Did she not enjoy my company? I diverted my gaze to the principal as he spoke once again.

"This part is the most important of our student-run clubs. Please welcome our student officers!"

"First we have our secretary, Jayden Green." A tall boy walked up to the center and gave a bow before heading to his position.

"Next we have our treasurer, Livana Owens!" A black-haired with green highlights stepped on the stage. Her combat boots echoed throughout the auditorium, and the applause followed shortly after. The girl was... Vana? She walked to the center and bowed, like Jayden, and told something to the principal, who just nodded. She then took her place next to Jayden.

"And lastly, everyone please welcome Emma Pratt and Micheal Lee, your president and vice-president for this year!" There were uproars of cheers and whooping, clapping, applauding. I clapped as everyone around me did so. There were smiles on everyone's faces.

All four of them exited the left of the stage, and the principal continued talking. I did not register what he was saying, my gaze was transfixed on a certain black haired girl.

"Don't ask questions," said Vana grumpily as she sat back down next to me.

"I was just going to ask why people voted for you. You looked moody up there. Cheer up a little," I pointed out.

Her shoulders relaxed a little. She might have grinned as she said, "I have my convincing ways." Her gaze was transfixed on the stage, hair covering parts of her face.

"Shit it sounds like you were bribing people. Shady," I joked. Hopefully, she is not those type of person who takes jokes seriously. She laughed.  I relaxed a little. She got the joke.

"Who knows, I might make money by selling certain types of medication."

"Ah, I see where people identify your money experiences," I joked. She laughed again. Her laughter was warm, unlike all the other girls back home. This was a warm, genuine laugh, breaking her figure of a gothic girl who dresses all black and sulks in the corner. Yes, she is wearing all black with some black eyeshadows, but she is different. The vibe that she gives off is unique. I felt like I only scratched the surface of her real personality.

She widened her eyes before relaxing them just as quickly, pretending that I did not notice it when I indeed, saw it. Her laughter faded abruptly as if she made a mistake by laughing. Is laughing forbidden at home?

"Each grade please go to your respective homerooms as mentioned in the email sent home. If you did not receive that email whatsoever, please contact our staff here at the front of the stage. Chop chop, and have a great day!"

Helo my readers!

I'm slowly realising I am a slow updater (jokes, I knew that when I created this account).

Anyways, pray that the next chapter will be out in less than a month.
