UNEDITED
I woke up to the Sun shining on my face. I grunted like a caveman while turning onto my back, facing the plain white ceiling above me.
"Today is Monday, the first day of being a Dolphin!" I thought to myself.
Yes, Dad had applied to Clingford High Dolphins for both Colin and me. They had some doubts at first but they ended up agreeing to let us attend. I have this intuition that my point of view did not play a significant part in that decision. It turns out that our neighbor, Silvana, was also attending Clingford. Her mom was also a teacher there and told our parents of the many benefits and facilities they had, along with many great things. I really wanted to attend.
"Fat chance," I thought to myself. "Mom probably already enrolled us in Miller High School."
Colin was practically begging Mom and Dad to let us go. Under the presence of our neighbors, they gave in and agreed. Now, don't get me wrong. I was happy that our parents let us go, just a little unexpected.
Hopefully, the people there are not too clingy.
Do you get the pun?
No?
I have failed my duty.
Anyways, back to my day. I leaned over to my bedside table and picked up my phone to reveal the time. Seven in the morning. The excitingness of a new school never felt so exhilarating, like a rollercoaster ride.
Figuring out I could not possibly go back to sleep, I got out of bed and did my morning routine. I stepped out of the shower, seven thirty. I still had a ton of time. An idea struck as I walked towards my closet.
"First impressions are key," I told myself. I decided to treat myself. With time on hand, I dug through my unorganized closet, since I was too busy with other things. Busy with watching Netflix while gaining calories.
Okay, maybe I was just lazy.
Nonetheless, I knew my clothes. I wanted to go for a look that was badass but not exactly badass at the same time. I'm a huge softie so it would look weird if I combat boots and jean chains while petting a dog I see on the street. And also I do not own combat boots. Or jean chains. So I decided on some jeans. Ripped, or not ripped?
I ended up exiting my room with a black crop top with a leather jacket, ripped black jeans with a black pair of converse. You can probably tell what my favorite color is.
I checked my phone. 7:50 AM. Breakfast time. Walking out of my room, I ran into my brother who was wearing identical, except for a denim jacket and some white sneakers.
"Daym brother, we are practically twins. Same minds think alike," I stated.
"Twins that are separated by two years," he replied.
"I feel sorry for Mom. I was stuck inside of her for so long." He laughed.
"Let's go fill our tummies 'cause I don't know 'bout you but this lil sugar daddy is hungry."
Did he just refer to himself as 'lil sugar daddy'?
We cannot be related.
"Rae, hurry before the eggs get cold!" Mom yelled.
I scurried downstairs and sat on the kitchen island in front of a plate that held two fried eggs and a strip of bacon. As I was sitting down, Mom placed a sizzling hot dog on Colin's plate, who devoured it. He really needs to chill. I squeezed ketchup over my eggs before eating it.
"Need a ride baby sis?" Colin asked while washing his plate. I accepted his offer.
We hit the road and made it to school in a jiffy, with some constant screaming from me here and there. The driver, who barely passed his driving test, gave me a cheeky grin. I shrugged and walked towards the school gates. I felt Colin's presence behind me as well as the eyeballs of every student we passed by on us, boys and girls alike.
Here was where we press a pause button and scream cliche!
Great, I thought. Now I just have to wait for the queen bee to come out.
The sound of student chattering engulfed me as I pushed the door open. I looked around, trying to absorb as much as I could without having to make any eye contact with anymore which I succeeded. What I failed at, however, was not attracting attention. A brunette girl wearing shorts and a grey crop top approached them.
"Hi! My name is Avery!" the girl practically yelled with a wide grin on her face. I lifted my head to meet her eyes. She was looking at me. Me! Stunning girls like her would be looking at my brother, not me.
"Raelynn. I love your top by the way," I added.
"I like you already. Come, I'll give you a school tour before we gather in the auditorium for the boring principal welcoming speech."
I laughed. "When were welcoming speeches exciting?"
I really liked Avery. She had this bubbly personality that makes you like her immediately. She laughs at my jokes and I laugh at her's. For people who do not know us might've thought that we were best of friends. With her, I really felt welcomed. Yes, I already took the tour but I just wanted to get to know someone. Colin left with a group of dudes. We eventually had to go back to the auditorium. Avery went to join her friends and I slipped into the first empty seat I saw.
"Hey, that seat's taken," someone said.
"Oh the seat is still single," I replied automatically. "Sorry." That was for my witty mouth.
"Seriously though, my boyfriend is sitting there," the girl said. I took a good look at her. Dirty blonde hair with striking blue eyes, a grin on her face. I got up and searched for a seat but since I had arrived later than everyone else, most of the seats were taken. I saw a girl wave her hand, but was it directed at me?
I cocked my eyebrow and pointed a finger at myself. "Me?" I mouthed. The girl nodded her head. I looked around me, I was the only one so it had to be me. Otherwise, it is just embarrassing.
I walked over towards her and took the seat next to her.
"The name's Vana," the girl said while chewing gum.
"Um, thanks I guess. You know, for the seat," I said.
"Eh, you looked like an idiot with that bitch."
"Who?"
She pointed to the blonde who was having a make-out session with a boy, presumably her boyfriend. Yesh, no PDA people. "That is the queen bee. You know, the typical cheerleader who thinks she rules the school."
"You sure we are talking about the same person? She was nice to me just now."
Vana smiled. "Now, that is where this queen bitch is different. She is really nice to people when she first meets them, but her friends really regret getting close to her."
"I don't get it," I said just as the principal called for everyone's attention at the front of the auditorium.
"Let's say she shows her true self to those closest to her."
A/N Yooo. Nothing much to say here lol. So just vote and comment! I really want to know all your thoughts.
See ya
