Riker's POV
I sighed as I walked down the hall with my hands in my pockets.
I walked into the waiting room and stopped.
My family squeezed into the tiny hospital waiting room.
They all whipped their faces towards the door where I stood, and their faces changed from anxious to shocked.
The order of my family seating was obvious.
My little sister Rydel, sat in the closet chair on the left. Next to her was our best friend, Ratliff. Next to him was Rocky, my eldest little brother. Then sat my other little brother Ross, and next to Ross was my youngest little brother, Ryland. Then sat my parents, Mark and Stormie. And right in the middle of my parents, sat my little girl, Rosie.
My mom burst into tears when she saw me. My dad comforted her as he tried to hold in his tears like the rest, but it wasn't working.
Rosie sat there confused. She sat there and looked up at me, and smiled.
"Hi daddy!" She said as she giggled and got up.
She walked over to me, and poked my knee.
I got down to her length and looked at her.
"Where's mommy?" She asked, biting her lip.
"U-Um. M-Mommy is on a little vacation." I fake smiled, holding in my buckets of tears.
My family gasped and started crying even harder.
"Well, where is she going? Why can't we go with her?" She questioned, clearly not old enough to understand that mommy would never be coming back.
"Well, see. There's this place up in the sky, and that's where mommy is." I paused, and smiled. "We can't go with her because she wanted us to have fun down here. Mommy is happy." I said, tears brimming my eyes.
"Just remember, even if you don't see mommy, she's always watching you." I said, looking into her shimmering brown eyes.
"What if I'm getting changed and she's watching me? That's icky!" She squealed.
"Sweetie, not like that." I laughed. "She'll always be right here." I said as I put my hand on her little heart.
"Daddy. Is mommy dead?" She begged.
"Baby I-."
"It's okay, daddy. Like you said, mommy is happy!" She smiled as she squeezed my cheek.
I laughed at how right she was.
I sighed. "Yeah baby. You're right." I smiled as I picked her up.
My family greeted me, and hugged me tight, seeming as they haven't seen me in three months.
We were all talking about Kate, when a doctor bursted through the waiting room doors.
I recognized him, he's the doctor I talked to about Kate with.
He was breathing heavy, and looked at me with a touch of hope in his eyes.
"Riker. Sh-She's alive." He breathed out.
I looked at him, and set Rosie down.
I ran to him, as we both sprinted out of the small room to Kate's room.
He stopped me before we walked in.
"She woke up and we asked if she wanted anyone, she asked for you. Are you ready?" He asked.
I nodded my head, I was to speechless to talk.
He opened the doors and I saw Kate laying there in her blue hospital bed playing with her hair.
The doctor walked out, giving us complete privacy.
I took a step towards the bed and she turned her beautiful head around towards me.
"Riker. Come here, please?" She said just above a whisper.
I nodded my head and smiled as I walked to her bed.
She patted the empty spot on the bed and I sat there and took her hand.
"Riker, I have something to tell you." She said.
