RECAP:
{{I packed my bags a few days later after returning home. My father was worried about my decision, he thought that the best thing was to stay at home, with my family, but I was determined to get away from this godforsaken town as soon as Ryan's funeral was over.}}
Chapter 1:
"Sweetie, are you sure you're ready for this?" Dad whispered during the funeral procession for the umpteenth time.
"Yes dad, I am." I muttered, keeping my eyes glued to Ryan's casket.
"You haven't even thought this through yet.."
"I'm going whether you like it or not." I replied hastily.
I could feel my father's eyes staring at the side of me. Why couldn't he just understand that I needed a change? I couldn't bear to put up with my old life without Ryan.
We had this... Routine.
We both worked in the mornings until 1 and 2pm. He worked at the local grocery store and I worked at the mechanics. We always met up at three and hung by the park rattling on about nothing.
Leaving Skylarp would be a difficult decision, but I was willing to put up with the consequences. Besides, I'd always wanted to go to college.
The funeral seemed to have gone for AGES! It felt as though the moment paused, Ryan's casket descending into the dark hole he would stay in for all eternity.
Silent tears slid down my face, I watched silently, then as soon as it was all over I ran to my mustang gt 1976 and turned on the ignition.
Carmen was by my door in a flash.
"Get out April." she ordered.
"Get out of the way or die trying." I warned her.
"You don't have to do this."
"YES. I. DO!" I yelled. "You have absolutely NO idea of what I've been through. Everything reminds me of him Carmen! Everything...." I moaned.
"April.."
"Please, just let me go.." I whispered.
Carmen stepped back from the stang and watched me, teary eyed as I drove out of the cemetery and onto the road beyond.
College was my descision. Ryan and I were accepted into two different colleges around the world. Well, not really. Our colleges were two hours apart and we couldn't bare being that far away from each other. We decided to get jobs instead.
I was going to attend Finley College which was about an hour and a half away from home. I couldn't care less at the moment. I knew deep down that I'd regret leaving my family, but I couldn't handle staying at home with so many memories of Ryan.
The driver of the car that killed Ryan was only fined a few hundred dollars and had to appear in court. I didn't go, but my sister told me that the guy had seemed really depressed and said that he had felt guilty about the accident. Apparently his front car windows had been smeared with mud, which caused him to blindly drive through the forest and into.. Ryan.
I wiped away the tears from my eyes and continued driving. I just hoped that I'd never have to meet the driver of the car. Accident or not, he still killed Ryan and could do it again.
I wasn't going to let Ryan's name go away in vain. The man I loved was dead and I couldn't help but feel that his killer could go on unpunished.
