The next day, the chime of the doorbell rang throughout Selena's apartment. Selena placed her hands over her face, rubbing it as she let out a sigh. She had been out shopping for school supplies all day and had worn her out. The last thing she was expecting was company. As soon as she opened the door, it was as if God had answered her prayers because the first thing she saw was a hot fudge sundae.

You could see the snippy, arctic air evaporating from the cold, vanilla ice cream and the warm pools of white that formed around where the warm fudge was drizzled over. After a couple more seconds of staring, she allowed her gaze to travel upward to the person that was holding. There stood Miley with her signature "adorable" pout face, lips all scrunched up and bloated out in a cute manner.

"I'm sorry," she mouthed. Selena sighed as she rested her body against the doorframe.

"I'm too tired to talk about that right now, Miles."

"Come on, I brought you a hot fudge sundae!" she exclaimed as she pouted.

"You know you love those," she continued.

"And me," she mumbled before sketching a small, hopeful smile on her face. Selena looked at the dessert in her hands again before darting her eyes back up.

"Did you get one for yourself?"Miley nodded.

"Ate it in the car when I realized how badly I messed up."Selena let out a small sigh.

"Fine, I guess I forgive you--" before she could finish, Miley had already walked in and embraced Selena in a hug.

"I love you," she squeezed tight.

"Watch the ice cream!" Selena warned jokingly as she let out a small laugh.. . . They were laying on Selena's living room floor now with two pizza boxes placed on the glass center table.

"I know he loves you."Selena shook her head and laughed, this time louder.

"Yeah, sure." She shook her head before he face softened and she stared at the floor in front of her. Her voice lowered,

"I doubt it. I just can't," she said softly before pressing her lips together tightly.

She knew Miley was watching her carefully because she knew Miley knew when she was on the verge of crying. But she also knew that Selena wouldn't dare cry in front of her. Instead, Miley just rested her head on Selena's shoulder.

"He cares for you, Sel. And believe it or not, you need someone like that in your life". Miley turned up the volume on the television so that it would be easier for Selena's thoughts to flow, yet drown from the grasp of others.

That's what best friends were for. But what if Miley was right? What if Selena's perception of a boyfriend was faulty and wrong. What if the presence of love in her life was contradicting to what it was put up to be?What if she was focusing on the wrong bonds? Deep down Selena knew the answers to all of these questions. She was just too afraid to face reality and so she drowned them altogether too.
