Guitar teacher AU

In which Lance offers to teach a fellow student how to play the guitar.

The only problem being that he doesn't know how to play a single note.

Note: There's some swearing and lots and lots of awkward, but enjoy ;).

It had been raining non-stop for the past five days.

Lance had been miserably staring out of the window from his maths class, watching the raindrops run down the misty glass. In his boredom he'd taken to gazing at the small water droplets to determine which one hit the windowsill fastest as his elderly teacher rambled on in class, sniffing at the end of every sentence.

That was another thing Lance hated about the rain; not only had the ghastly weather confined him to only indoor activities for the past few days, but as it turned out there would've been no one to hang out with anyway. Everyone was sick with the cold, including Lance's own older brother, Luis, who had fallen ill a couple of days after the downpour had begun.

What had started off as a sore throat quickly escalated into sneezing at the dinner table and now the senior student was stuck at home, right where Lance would very much like to be. He almost audibly groaned as he remembered his brief conversation with his brother when he left the house that morning, and how he'd somehow been persuaded to grab Luis' guitar on his way out of school. As much as he loved his brother, the last thing he needed on a day like this was to lug around a heavy guitar case.

It was no more than a minute later that Lance's phone buzzed in his back pocket, snapping him out of his daze. He glanced around the class cautiously before unlocking it under the table, his fingers automatically typing out his password with practiced speed -
"M-u-l-l-e-t". He grinned at his own genius; his password had never failed to bring a smile to his face since he set it in freshman year. Two years later and his password had not changed once - and neither had his crush on the very person who inspired it.

Lance quickly opened his messages, frowning.

"Mama😱❤️:
Sorry honey, you'll have to get the bus home. Gotta pick Ronnie up from dance xx"

He groaned, letting his forehead fall against the table with a soft thud before turning to grin at Hunk, who was sharpening his pencil next to him.

"So, you know how we're best buddies? Like, pals for life?" Lance began.

Hunk laughed, shaking his head. This was the look he had been waiting for, and by god if he didn't know what was coming then he wouldn't have been able to call himself Lance's best friend.

"Your moms picking Veronica up again, right?" Hunk raised an eyebrow at the pouting brunette. Lance whined dramatically in return and sat up straight to gently cradle Hunk's hands.

"Take the school bus with me? Y'know, just like the good old days. You can't let me face it alone!" Lance pleaded desperately.

Hunk just offered him a timid smile and pried his hands from Lance, moving to ruffle his hair instead. "Sorry bud, I promised Shay we'd get coffee. She's been off with the cold and I said I'd pass on the work she's missed."

"Hunk, that's betrayal!" Lance threw his arms up to exaggerate his point, earning a few questioning glances from around the class. "You wound me, Hunk, but I'll forgive you just this once. Should I message Pidge?"

Hunk shook his head with no hesitation, "It's Thursday, they have astronomy after school."

"Damn Hunk, you're right... I'm going to have to go alone! They'll rip me apart, I'm too young and beautiful to die on a school bus!" Lance buried his face in his hands, peeking through his fingers to watch Hunk for a reaction. Any sign that his friend had given in would be greatly appreciated, especially after all of his efforts.
