Blue, cyan, red, yellow, pink, green, lime and white. All kinds of them. The particles danced around each other. In harmony. In balance. The system- complete. But it was one of those dreams. One of those where you are still awake. But you are also dreaming. Actually, I don't know how to explain. I could reach out to the system. Play with it. It felt natural. I liked doing it. Rearranging. Displacing. Replacing. But you have to be careful. Or else, it might all collapse on you. The dancing particles, the balance.

-Hey! Wake up!
I woke up.
-Are you okay?, the voice continued. It was a man's voice. My vision was blury, and my head all fuzzy. My body hurt all over, and the pain came in small waves. It was warm in the bed, and it smelled fried meat all over the room.
-Where am I?
-This is the second floor I told you to stay away from. We have always kept guests away from here for their own safety. This time I didn't have a choice, even though the ghost lives here. She is needed though, she had been helping us protect the house for years.

-What are you talking... about...?, I asked confused. -Who are you?, I added. The man raised an eyebrow. Then, he bent down and studied me closely.
-Did you hit your head in the cave collapse? You must have. Don't worry, you will remember soon enough., he smiled.
-I don't remember... anything.
The man straightened up and stepped out of the room. He continued down the stairs he was talking about. I heard him open cabinets and taking out dishes and glasses, and putting them on a table.

I sat up in the bed. Bandages were wrapped all around me, and I felt a hard stick of some kind inbetween the bandage on my right leg. I couldnt bend my right knee. Had I broken it? Had I been in a car accident? He talked about a cave collapse. A tunnel maybe. In any case I have lost my memories. Maybe I knew this man before. Could he be my dad? No he didnt seem like a family member. More like a friend.

I heard the man climbing the stairs again.
-You don't have the sphere on you, do you? The one I gave you?
I checked my pockets, and around in the bed.
-I don't think so., I replied.
-Where then?, he wondered.
-What is the sphere for?
-Well, it wakes up the ghost I mentioned from its sleep. I don't like relying on the ghost too much, she is hard enough to deal with when sleeping. I constantly need to keep her in check with my energy, you know! But I gave you it, just in case it came to the house. The ghost would have crushed it.

-I see..., I mumbled trying to get what he was saying straight in my head.
-I still wonder how you managed to get out of it alive. You are one lucky man, you know that?, he smiled to me as he came into the door, and laid a dish with fried chicken, salad, steamed potatoes and a glass of water on the bedside table. My stomach roared in hunger, and I grabbed the knife and fork and laid the dish on my lap.
-Thanks!, I mumbled through the eating.
-Don't worry about it, the man smiled.

The man sat down on the bed. He watched me eat and drink, and waited patiently till I was done. Then he asked:
-Do you know what magic is?
-Manipulation of reality., I replied.
-More accurate, its applying inner force to manipulate your surroundings.
I looked at him, wondering what he meant with the question, while the man took a thin book out of a drawer. He shook off dust from it. Then he reached it out to me.
-I think fixing your problem is more complex than first thought. There seems to be something Im not noticing. You lost your memories a few weeks ago too. If this is repetitive, it may be safer to stay in one place until you are fixed.

-You are right..., I nodded. His smile turned into a worried expression, and he looked beyond me.
-Truth is, I would like to have someone here. I don't know how much longer I can keep everything under control. Not only am I not a prodigy like Julie. At my age, your energy pool will decrease over time, unless you keep it stable with training. Just like physical energy, the mental energy is also useful to train, for a clearer mind, quicker thinking and more output in the arcane.
-Stronger magic?
-You can say that..., he replied flat.
