Today was the happiest day of my life! I, Catrina Delarosa Ruiz, am the youngest licensed ship captain in history! Well maybe not in history, but at least in Mexico. I did a little happy dance, then pulled my best friend Mark into a hug. He resented at first but he soon surrendered into my arms. The youngest ship captain used to be 34, but I'm only 22. Mark is only a first mate at 21, which is still impressive, but not as impressive as me! Mark and I went to our house to celebrate.
A couple of months have passed and we've been in a bit of a dry spell. At first, we were getting a lot of jobs transporting people and goods but lately, no one hired us and we were running low on money. But one day, we saw an announcement for a transporting job, and they would supply us with their own ship. Mark was ecstatic, but I was a little skeptical. It was to transport supplies to Cayenne, then another ship would pick it up and bring it to its final destination. We lived on the edge of Mexico near the gulf. But I wondered, why we need to bring a ship to a place so close by, just so someone else could bring it somewhere else?
