Ember woke up feeling something hard against her cheek, she weakly sat up realizing she was on the ground outside.
Surrounding her were large tall hedges, Ember looked around the corner hearing nothing but silence.
"Hello?" She whispered. Still nothing.
Suddenly something started vibrating, a phone?
Ember looked on the ground seeing a light go off, picking up the object she realized it was a phone but it wasn't hers...
There were messages on it
Unknown: Ember welcome to your game 🤗
Unknown: If you didn't get the idea already, we're gonna play marco polo!!
Ember gave the phone a confused look.
Ember: With what water.
Unknown: I'm glad you brought that up, if you notice there is a blindfold around your neck. Don't worry Danny has one too.
Ember felt the cloth around her neck, looking around once again.
Ember: Where am I?
Unknown: a hedge maze duh. 😐 now I'd like to explain the rules...
Ember waited for the next message, was Danny getting these messages as well? She thought as the phone vibrated.
Unknown: You and Danny are at different parts of the maze, you must walk blindfolded calling marco as he calls polo until you find each other.
Ember stared at the text feeling nervous about all of this.
Ember:That's it?
Unknown: No, I'll also be looking for you. You must find each other before I find both of you 😁
"Thats not fair," she mumbled angrily.
Ember: That's cheating!
Unknown: Oh Em, I never said I'd be playing fair 😏 one more thing, taking the blindfold off will get you eliminated. 😄
Ember swallowed her spit, the maze had to be huge. She was shaking from fear and because of the cold weather.
An idea immediately came to her, she looked at what was in front of her. Since looking over wasn't possible she looked around the hedge, memorizing a route to take well feel for since she wasn't going to be able to see.
Unknown: Okay blindfolds on!! And begin😋
Ember put the blindfold over her eyes slowly watching the world go dark, slowly walking she listened to the silence.
She heard footsteps but stayed silent, it could've been Danny but she couldn't be sure. Ember continued to walk feeling her surroundings, "Marco...Marco!" She blurted out waiting for a response.
After a minute she heard "Polo!" Coming from her left. Ember immediately bumped into a hedge, "Shit," she whispered.
Walking around a corner she felt nothing so she decided to walk straight ahead, while being cautious of her surroundings.
"Marco!" Ember shouted walking in the direction of Danny's voice.
"Polo!" His voice came from another direction.
She was about to Marco again when she heard footsteps then immediately freaked out.
Ember didn't know where the footsteps were coming from so she hid behind the nearest hedge hoping she didn't get caught.
As the footsteps came closer the faster Ember's heart beat, she didn't want to die...not right now...not like this. Trying to stay silent the footsteps passed right by her, as if they weren't even looking for her...
"Polo!" She heard Danny yell, but she didn't respond. If staying silent and still was keeping her alive then she'd use it to her advantage.
Ember pulled her blindfold off and looked from around the hedge seeing nothing, so she walked quietly with caution looking behind her every five seconds.
If she was gonna get out she was gonna lead the killer to Danny, well he was already doing that himself.
"Polo- Ember!" She heard him yell once more but continued to walk trying to find her way out.
On the other side of the maze Danny was stumbling around calling for Ember who'd been quiet for a while.
"Em!" He yelled once more before giving up, what if she was dead by now? Or... what if she wasn't? Danny continued walking but little did he know someone was right behind him.
"Marco!" He called.
"Polo," a voice said before pulling out a gun shooting Danny in the head.
A gun shot caused Ember to run for her life, she frantically looked for the exit when she stopped in her tracks.
In front of her was a person, they were wearing a smiley face mask with a black hoodie.
Was this the unknown number? Ember thought, "Who are you?!" She yelled but the person just stood there staring at her.
She decided to run in the other direction hoping the exit was that way, lucky enough it was.
But she didn't stop at there, ember ran until she was at the side of the road where she collapsed falling unconscious.
A few minutes later somebody came by picking up Ember's body and taking her to her apartment buliding.
