Chapter 3

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh" Elizabeth and I scream in horror. I also noticed while I scream of course that there was a girl yelling in the same time as us. She was holding bread? I think. The girl stopped screaming and that's when Elizabeth and I stopped screaming too.

The girl looks like my age. She has long black hair with a blue, purple headband on. I noticed that her brown eyes look watery. 

"Who are you, where did you come from and why are you here in my home?" she shouted. I didn't really hear clearly so that's what I think she said. 

"This is your house?" wondered Elizabeth. 

"Yes it is my house!" she shouted. After that I couldn't hear anything else what she and Elizabeth said. I couldn't understand anything, why is there a war going on anyway? Why is the girl alone at her home? Err this is making my head hurt.

Suddenly I felt this hard pointy budge, it was Elizabeth trying to make me talk. 

"Ummmm" I say confused. I looked at Elizabeth and that's when I knew that she was saying for me to introduce myself. 

"Umm, my name is Kim but Elizabeth doesn't propose my name right so she calls me Kim without the G". 

"Well my name is Thuy but why are you in my house?" said Thuy. 

"Wait hang on how do you pronounce your name?" Elizabeth asked trying to not look like that she's dull. 

"It's Thuyyy" Thuy answer "Thuyyy!"

"Jeez you don't need to yell" I say while blocking my ears. 

"Sorry," says Thuy. 

"That's ok but why are you here alone at home? I've been wondering this since I met you" I asked. 

"Umm I wasn't alone that long just a few minutes ago my father and brother left in a truck with other people holding guns" she says quietly. I knew what she was talking about. It's about those soldiers, they bring her brother & father with them, to fight with them in the war. I didn't know what to say to her, I can't just make her worry that her dad and brother might already be dead. That's what gave me an idea.

I whispered to Elizabeth to see if the idea is good enough. And of course she gave me her grin. I knew she'll agree. 

"Hey Thuy" says Elizabeth, 

"No it's Thuyyy" corrected Thuy. 

"Sorry, hey can I just call you Sky instead of that name of yours" asked Elizabeth. 

"Huh, why?" wondered Thuy. 

"It's just I felt like that name suits you and that also helps me make things easy" says Elizabeth. 

"Well I guess" says Sky in a weird way.

"So Sky do you know where your father and brother is" asked Elizabeth. 

"Umm I'm not really sure" Sky said looking confused. 

"Well um Sky, I don't know how I'm going to say this but it seems to me that your father and brother could have gotten conscripted" says Elizabeth sadly. Hey that's not what I planned, what is Elizabeth thinking she is going to make Thuy... I mean Sky worry about them. 

"Wait, what does it mean?" Sky asked. 

"Well it means that your father and brother didn't really have a choice to go into war or not so they basically got forced to fight for the country". 

"What" Sky asked. And of course I knew that she was trying to not yell. 

"It can't be, this isn't fair, and I don't get it" Sky said furious.

"I know it's hard, you just have to stay calm and everything will be alright" says Elizabeth. I saw Sky's cheeks turned pink, and she looked so confused and furious. 

"Ok" Sky said, trying to calm down. 

"Why are you in my house anyway" Sky said. 

"Oh we needed to take cover from the bombs, it's very dangerous out there you know" says Elizabeth. 

"Yeah and even these people tried to take us a way to an orphanage, we barely escaped" says Elizabeth giving a nervous look. I knew she was lying on that part, but why. 

"Well we need to find my Dad" Sky says. 

"But how, for all we know he could have already be dead" says Elizabeth.

"Elizabeth!" I shouted and in the same time I smacked her hand. 

"Hey, what's that for?" Elizabeth said while touching her hand. 

"Elizabeth remember" I whispered to her. 

"Sorry" said Elizabeth, 

"Sky about that your dad and brother are dead that's not true it's just I got too overwhelmed that they are going to war. It made me say weird stuff." 

"Errrr, I don't get what you're talking about" said Sky, looking confused. 

"Doesn't matter about that what I'm really talking about is---." 

"That she means that we should start and escape from this place because the people from the orphanage are going to try and take us to that disgusting and horrid place" I interrupted Elizabeth. I know, I was lying about all of this. It's just to keep Sky from not thinking about the war.
