Today was just another marvelous day for her. She went to school, dealt with her bullies, and talked with her friends. At the same time, she couldn't help but stare at her. She never looked back at her but Ivy knew that the others saw. The bullies. The people who had to hate her. Her special shade of purple.

I walked past my locker watching the others stare at me. My friends stood at the end of the hall waiting for me. Lucas, Joey, Max, Madeline, Dakota, and I have known each other for a while. Some people think that we are all secretly dating one another but honestly, we just get along really well. We do dares, go to movies, and hang out like normal people. Although in the other's eyes we are abnormal, alien.
Once I reached the end of the halls Max jumped up and pulled me into a hug. Madeline laughed softly and Joey pulled him off of me, jealous. Max and Joey like each other but it seems like neither of them knows the other likes them.
Madeline looked behind me at the others. She always seemed to try and fit in until she met Lucas and Dakota.
We walked towards our classes heading our separate ways. Madeline, Dakota, and I walked to our class while Joey and Lucas went to theirs. Max is special and way smarter than the rest of us. Madeline sat in her corner seat while I followed her. She grabbed her phone and put it in her coat pocket. She put an earbud in while her hair covered it. Even though her hair was short, the black of the earbud helped her hide it in her brown hair.
I, on the other hand, don't have the luxury of being able to do so. My hair is too short for my earbuds to be hidden. Even if I had longer hair I wouldn't be able to listen to my music and the teacher. Even though, I already don't listen to the teacher.
Students started to walk in and sit down. Like usual the seat in front of Madeline and the one beside me were empty. I didn't mind. That meant we could talk and the others wouldn't hear. I turned to the board when the teacher taking attendance. After Madeline and Dakota were called they got on their phones and started watching videos. I couldn't see what but Madeline was trying not to laugh.
"Everyone please turn your pages-" our teacher, Mr. Stokes said. He was interrupted by some students laughing in the hall. Before he knew it the students walked in. She walked in. Her short purple hair didn't even meet her ears. Her pale skin looked as if she hadn't seen the sun. Her hazel eyes looked all around. Her laugh was music to my ears.
"Stop before she sees you," Madeline said. She was right. She hung out with the rest of them. The ones who hurt us. Who hurt me. Most of my friends have been bullied here since elementary school. Anything we said would be used against us. Anything we did they would make painful. Madeline followed one of the popular people once. She said it was like the old times when slaves existed. When whatever the man said went. When whatever you did would mean treason, and when girls couldn't like girls.
