She looked at her as her purple hair seemed to shine like it was gold. Her skin so light but in a way, it made her the only thing that could take Ivy's attention. She couldn't look away, but somehow she did.

I walked past the other tables toward the only table I was welcomed to sit at. Max seemed to be upset but I didn't pay attention long enough to ask why. Madeline looked at me then at the table where she sat. Her hair was still in her eyes like it always was but only I seemed to notice she wasn't talking as much as she usually did. Madeline laughed at me but I didn't care.

She stood up with her friends and went to get food but I stayed seated. I wouldn't go up without Madeline. She was my best friend and I would make a fool of myself if something were to happen. She asked the teacher if Dakota, her, and I could go up. Of course, they said yes. Madeline usually got food and gave it to Max or Joey. She usually just ate an apple. Dakota was vegan however so she only ever got a salad.

I got in front of her in hopes of Kiley noticing me. She didn't even glance in my direction. I pictured us kissing under the sun outside while Madeline talked and laughed with Max and Joey. I tried to imagine how Kiley's lips would feel. From afar they seemed soft and smooth.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by Madeline handing me my tray. She pushed some people away from us helping me out. She was still shipping Kiley and I. She said we were perfect for each other. I couldn't see it anymore. Dakota didn't fully understand it. She liked some guy in the school. Only Madeline and Rose knew who.

Rose was a galaxy haired girl. She was nice to me and hadn't ever really done anything wrong to me but we hadn't really hung out as much as Max, Joey, Madeline and I have.

I got my food with Madeline and Dakota following me to the lady at the end. We entered a pin and payed for our meals.

After a while or trying to get through the crowd, we came back and Max took Madeline's tray giving her the apple. I looked at Kiley again wondering how she seemed to be the only thing that held me together. Her eyes so captivating, her hair so wild, and her skin, delicate. I hoped that one day I would have the courage to say something to her but being me I pushed the thought away and talked with my friends.

After eating we all went to class. I went to this class alone but Madeline was in it.

Before I got to class I hit something hard and fell. A couple laughs were heard but I ignored them pushing past a tall figure. It followed.

"Hey look its blind too!" Thomas yelled. I was stopped by another guy. Lucas. I felt a hand on me but it was ripped away. I turned around and saw Madeline and Dakota. Like always they protected us. Even if it meant they got hurt.

Currently, Madeline was getting beat up and Dakota was being held back by Lucas not really trying to escape. I knew if I tried to stop it I would pay, and then Madeline would get hurt worse. She could fight but she didn't. Her and Dakota went to classes together. They we practically sisters. They had each others back, but when it came to this school it was only when necessary.

Kiley screamed at Thomas and he stopped, laughed, and continued. She looked at me and we locked eyes. She stared at me as if she felt bad for this. It wasn't her fault, but she could do something. I couldn't.

After about five minutes of Madeline struggling to stay conscious, a teacher finally got through the crowd (or stopped laughing) making Lucas and Thomas let go of the girls. Kiley looked at me again but I just looked away and went to class. She's straight, I reminded myself, and my friend needs me.
