"You're okay, it's going to be alright. Please be still." A familiar deep, male voice whispered in my ear.
Blurry, green figures rush past my eyes as if I'm in the back seat of a fast moving car racing through endless mountains. The smell of crisp, fresh air fills my lungs and my entirety. The sound of grass, leaves and sticks crunching under my rapid step is totally in sync with the beat of my racing heart. I can feel the morning cold nip at my face as I run through the woods.
"Keep going!" I tell myself. "You're almost there!"
I'm not aware of the massive trees I'm dodging as I swerve through the twists and turns of the dawn-lit forest.
The sliver of early morning light is just enough to see the world around me. Even though I'm speeding through beautiful nature, desperately trying to engulf myself in the radiant rays at the perimeter of the woods, I'm keeping note of every little detail; every birds song.
Suddenly, I was receiving the most intense and extremely gruesome pain on the left side of my neck. It burned, it stung, Hell, it was pure torture! I fell to the ground onto my knees as I struggled to breathe, move, and even scream. My head was throbbing and I felt an excruciating ice cold sensation shoot through my bloodstream, and everything around me began to spin. My vision crossed, I was loosing my balance, I thought I was going to die.
Then something changed. The direction the trees were going had reversed. I was going backwards.
"No! I'm so close!" I could almost hear myself scream. I was practically being sucked back in the opposite direction like a vacuum would do to a small dust bunny. It was hopeless, I was no longer going to reach the lush brightness at the mouth of the forest.
All I could think to myself was that I needed to go faster, and fight the force that was restraining me, but I was too weak.My body shook and began to tremble at the cold rain that began to fall upon my pale, white skin. I too, was shedding chilly rain drops from my emerald green eyes that were heavy with exhaustion.
"Madison.. Madison!" the voice was speaking to me again, but I saw no body around me. I stopped in my tracks to listen to the voice, and again it repeated, "Madison! Madison! Please!" the pleading voice had been getting louder, and was calling to me in desperation.
Abruptly, I felt sharp, impacts upon my cheeks, arms, and my chest, all this in addition to the bone-chilling pain that was lingering throughout my system. What was happening? Was I dreaming, or was I dying? Is the light I'm trying to reach Heaven? Why am I in the middle of this beautiful forest anyways? I had so many questions, but who would I derive my answers from?
All my questions would be answered, it was just a matter of time.
