Not Internally Human

"Do you want to just stay the night? It's getting late and I don't have a car, remember?" I laughed at Owen's remark about the truck, but he has a point. My dad wasn't in town for another few days, and I had stayed over at guys homes before, I can't think of another reason why not to. Autumn was at a friends house tonight and they would take her to school in the morning so we had the apartment to ourselves.

I reminded myself that I am sixteen, but I guess now my 17th birthday, that's in a week or so, doesn't matter anymore. I don't age anymore. In a way it doesn't bother me, I am happy with my size and my body. I'm pretty sure Owen knows my birthday is in several days, but I don't think birthdays matter when you're not internally human.

"You're welcome to sleep in my bed, I'll crash on the couch." It was sweet of him to offer his room to me, along with some of his clothes to sleep in, but after today, I really want someone with me. In no way was I wanting anything promiscuous to happen, just someone with me so I wouldn't feel alone.

"Are you sure? It won't make me feel uncomfortable if you sleep in there with me." I was too shy to admit I wanted someone to comfort me. Everything today was just too much to take in all at once.

"Yes, I'm sure. Unless you're scared?" He smirked. He really was handsome. Now I was embarrased, I actually was scared. I just laughed at his comment and went to his room and left the door open.

I love the way his bed smells, just like him. A few hours passed and I could hear every noise from outside. I couldn't sleep and my old fear of the dark was coming back. I tip-toed out of the room, and the bright, blue light from the moon beamed into the room from all the large windows. I noticed I had aquired a cat-like night vision which made the rims on the color of my eyes slightly glow an emerald green. I tried to remain silent as I walked into the living room until I noticed another set of glowing green orbs.

"I know those beautiful eyes. Madison, are you okay?" Even though his voice is music to my ears, I am not okay. I could feel my eyes begin to water and tears ran down my face. Before I could wipe them away, Owen flashed over to me, softly cupped my face in his hands and gently swiped them away. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he brought my head into his chest.

"I-I am scared. Will you please come cuddle with me?" I said between sniffles.

"Of course. Anything for you." He took my hand in his and we both laid down. He gripped my waist and pulled my body close to his. I feel so safe with him. He twirled my hair as we talked and laughed for hours. I rolled over so I could see those bright eyes of his. He pushed the excess hair away from my face and brought his face just centimeters from mine. The feeling of his soft lips against my own was enough to make my heart race, and slow at the same time.

"Go to sleep, I'll be right here when you wake up." I nuzzled my head in his chest as his hand stroked my back. I fell asleep instantly to the rythmic movement of his chest rising and falling as he breathed.

I woke up in the same position, my head on his chest, his arms around me. I peered up at him to see if he was awake.

"Well, good morning Sleeping Beauty."

I smiled as he laid a kiss on my forehead. "Are you hungry?"

"A little, but ever since you changed me I've been afraid of what might actually solve my hunger issue.." He knew what I was talking about, he could tell I wasn't kidding either.

"I know what you mean, get dressed, you can shower if you want. We're skipping school, I want to take you somewhere."

"Okay, so you don't mind if I shower?"

"Not at all." He smirked.

We both sat up and I walked into the bathroom. I heard Owen whistle at me as I walked across the room in his T-shirt and my underwear. I could feel my face turn pink.
