Chapter One

... Yawn... Good morning world! I can already tell that today's going to be a fabulous day! Why? Simple. It's my first day at attending the prestigious Hope's Peak Academy! I'm so excited! I wonder... How many friends will I make? The anticipation is killing me!

I then hopped out of bed, and began tog et ready for the day. You know, the usual shower, blow-drying my hair, getting appropriate clothes for school on, etc.

Once I had finished with all of that, I grabbed my backpack that already had everything in it that I needed, and headed downstairs. There, I found my mother preparing (Favorite Breakfast).

"Aw Mom, you didn't have to do this for me."

"How could I not? It's my sweet baby girl's first day of high school! And at Hope's Peak... It's so exciting to see you growing up into a wonderful ultimate."

"Oh come on, my 'ultimate' ability isn't that great." I said while sitting down at the table.

"Nonsense. Now, eat up before you're late." Mom instructed.

"Alright, alright."

I then devoured my food, and headed out the door. Since we live so close, I can walk. Besides, my mother is normally very busy. The fact that she made me breakfast is amazing, and the only offer I'll make her do for me today.

I scanned the area as I headed to school, looking for opportunities to help anyone who may need it... With no such luck.

As I arrived at the school, it was still hard for me to believe that I'm actually going to attending this school.

With a smile on my face, and a spring in my step, I entered the doors of the high school.

Scanning the area, I wondered who could possibly be in need of a friend.

... That's when I saw him. A loner. Someone who could be in need of a friend.

I then walked over to this male, a smile still visible on my face.

"Hello. My name's (y/n). What's your name?" I questioned.

The boy looked at me with an odd look. He seemed happy to see me, but not at the same time.

"Oh, I'm Nagito. Though I don't expect you to remember it or anything. I'm not someone worth remembering." Nagito said.

... Hm... Seems like this one has self-esteem issues... That's something I'm used to. Guess I'll just need to give Nagito some self-motivation.

"Of course I'll remember your name. After all, you're my friend."

Nagito looked utterly shocked.

"You... Consider me a friend? I'm truly honored! An ultimate like yourself considering trash such as I your friend... I just don't know what to say..."

"What do you mean by 'An ultimate such as yourself'? Aren't you an ultimate too?"

Nagito frowned.

Uh-oh. Seems like I hit a touchy subject...

"Well, technically, yes. But I don't consider my talent anything special." Nagito explained.

"Come on, you can tell me. It's probably better than mine anyway." I said with a smile.

"... I'm just lucky, as the ultimate lucky student."

... So, he won the lottery drawing...

"Well, luck can be a really useful talent." I explained, honestly not sure how to reply.

"It's fine. You can stop lying to yourself. My talent's useless..."

I frowned.

"Hey, come on. It isn't that bad-"

I was cut off by the bell ringing.

... We're going to be late

"Well Nagito, I'd love to talk more, but we need to hurry to our classes now." I said, before tuning to leave.

Nagito grabbed my arm.

"Wat. If you don't mind telling me... What's your ultimate talent?"

"I don't mind. I'm the ultimate friend." I said, before walking away.

I'm pretty sure I just made my first friend... As well as helped someone feel better about themselves... Oh yeah! Killing two birds with one stone is the best!

Hm... This ultimate friend... I guess that would be the perfect description to fit her... Since she is indeed above me... Someone who is better than I... Guess I should head to my first class... Sigh... I really hate school...

Hello everyone, and welcome to my newest story! Danganronpa has truly taken over my life... And once I met Nagito, I knew I wanted to write a story for him. But I had to wait until I knew more about him. Which I do now! Please keep in mind that I haven't finished the second game yet, so if I miss something up, please be understanding. 

Anyway, if you aren't aware, this is in an AU where there's no killing game. It's as if they just went to high school like normal. 

Another thing... I plan to update this story every Friday. But, if I miss an update, please be understanding. I'm a very busy person with all the other stories I'm working on. 

One last thing... If you have any tips on how to make the story better (like in quality, not plot-line), feel free to let me know. I love getting feedback, as it helps me become a better writer. 

One thing you should know is that I write lots of short chapters. For example, another story of mine that I wrote had around 70 chapters, but most of the chapters were short. 

I hope you've enjoyed the first chapter of this story. Sorry if this author's note seemed long; I just had a lot I had to say. But I can reassure you that I don't post only author's notes. If I post one, it's always after the chapter. The only exception is when I'm quitting a story (which rarely happens).
