Music blared in my apartment and I was ready to fuck my roommate up. Before I could het to her and tell her to turn that shit down a feeling came over me, almost like an invisible wind had swept the room and the fucking curtains moved.
My cellphone began going off and I saw my mother calling. "Ronnie turn that shit down," I slammed my bedroom door closed before answering. "Hi mommy."
She sounded not herself. "Cassandra."
I went by Cass or Cassie. My mother calling me this late and by my full name meant something had happened. I waited.
"Your grandmother passed a fee hours ago," her voice sounded grave.
"Mom, i'm..." she didnt let me finish.
"You need to get home soon. We have things to discuss."
How could I turn down an invite like that. "Of co..."
The phone had went dead. I sighed and went straight to my closet to pack. I was a lowly paid secretary at a warehouse chain in the city of Ashwell, New York. Going home to a small as town in Virginia was sure to be an adventure.
As Ronnie finally turned her shit music off, something caught my eye and I looked up. Whatever had been there was gone. But I swear I'd seen the glow of blue eyes watching me.
