A Foxes Journey Book 2: The Lost River

Prologue: Time

"Mountain Heart, Dark Breeze's spirit grows with light each passing day, which in good strength means she will be joining us soon if nothing bad is to happen to her. I am afraid that my mother's time will be up soon with the foxes there that loved her so. May start having some trouble especially if she is to die before their journey ends and as you know we have no clue if Moss Fur will be a good leader or not ," Turkey Feather told the first leader of StarRange in a troubled way for he did not understand this. Mountain Heart just shook his head at that thought he wanted her to live peacefully not die due to harm, but he knew as the times arouse that would not be the case. As Mountain Heart stood there he began to think about a terrible thought that had just come into his mind, Maybe it was true that MountainRange's greatest leader's life was coming to an end, but they will rise up again without her and be just as strong as before. I cannot doubt them after that is my own Range down there fighting for the life that they desperately need to keep especially since times are about to get very rough. Mountain Heart looked upon his old Range for the leader and saw that she was still alive, but not in her most prime condition in fact it looked as if the great leader was giving up on life like after all she had been through she had nothing to live for.

"If she is to indeed die soon, I will not know what to do the Range's depended on her so much, but maybe Moss Fur will be okay as a leader, but only Time's paws will hold the truth on what all is about to unfold," Mountain Heart told Turkey Feather thoughtfully and at the same time unsurely for the paws of Time could and most likely would do anything.

"This is all in the paws of Time. She is sometimes cruel. I wish I could reason with her, but no fox in all of StarRange can do that. The only way to see her after she is out of your sight is if you fade and go into oblivion there many upon many generations of foxes that are faded out of our sight live, but see each other they do not oblivion is a place where the light does not exist and the darkness does not shund. The only foxes that will never go there are all of the criminals in DarkRange's blood forsaken forest. That is why our time here in StarRange is so precious and once we fade from here our families are never to be seen again. I am the oldest fox that still stands in StarRange today and soon it will be my turn to leave this place and go to oblivion in which case the rest of my family already has. This happens so that the new generations of foxes who move in can keep this tradition going the only way to stop this is if the foxes on Earth don't believe in us anymore," Mountain Heart growled to himself and to Turkey Feather angrily.

"They have to get to the Lost River before the great freeze if the Range can survive all doubt. If they don't make it the River will be frozen over and too dangerous for them to cross. I just hope Time knows what she is doing and that all of the foxes of MountainRange and CanyonRange will survive. As you know SunRange is taking a different route around the river to get to their new home with others so hopefully Time will help them all to meet up again," Turkey Feather said doubtfully to Mountain Heart who once again just shook his head in defiance at what Time was doing to these foxes.

"That is also in the paws of Time. And if she had any decency she would let them cross, but I have a feeling that more trouble is on the horizon ahead of MountainRange and CanyonRange," Mountain Heart growled to Turkey Feather as this too for him was troubling.
