(Y/n), though reluctant, managed to make it to the front of the classroom without freaking out too much. She looked around at her newfound friends, to each gave their own method of motivation - Miku pumped her fist in the air, who immediately was told to stop by the teacher, Rin gave a thumbs-up, Meiko gave two thumbs up, Teto silently clapped, Luka smiled, and Len mouthed "You can do it!" The (h/c)-haired girl looked down, took a deep breath, and looked back up, smiling. She gestured to the teacher that she was ready to begin.
The teacher eyed her, not quite sure how she'd do. She'd expected that she would do not-so-well, if not decent, however, her thoughts had been proven wrong immediately as soon as said student began singing.

Though the test was to observe the students' high-range capabilities, the teacher was extremely impressed with (Y/n)'s singing voice. It flowed extremely well, wasn't at all nasally in any way (as she'd experience with other students before), and was almost entrancing. (Y/n) continued.

As the students continued to listen to (Y/n), dazed, her worry began to wash away. Even if I was still nervous, she thought to herself, I'm already singing. There's no turning back now. She began to glance around the room again. Luka stood out most - she looked like the proudest mother on the planet. (Y/n) smiled whilst singing, and tried her best not to look stupid while singing the higher notes.*
As the song finished, the class was silent. (Y/n) worriedly glanced around. "I take this as a bad sign," she told herself quietly. Rin slowly shook her head, though the current class star didn't notice. She stopped and looked at Miku, who was smiling like an idiot and shook her head again. "No, (Y/n), that was awesome! You're an awesome singer!" Len began clapping in agreement, as did the rest of the class. (Y/n) blushed and shook her head.
"I-I don't really deserve this much praise or attention. I took the test just as everyone else did." The teacher stepped up.
"I think it's because I've kept you from class activities for so long." (Y/n) let out an exasperated sigh. "That's my own fault."
"Sensei," Meiko cut in. "Why is Kaito getting an A+ when he's perfectly capable of taking it later?"
The teacher seemed slightly taken aback. As to not draw any more attention to herself, (Y/n) returned to her seat, where Len gave her a small high five. Everyone's attention was returned to Meiko and the teacher. "I-I'm sorry? I thought I already said that grades were due today."
"You've always been on the ball with schedules, Sensei. If grades were actually due today, then why would you wait until now to give the test? We won't be able to get through everyone today."
The teacher began to grow irritated. "Sakine-san, stop attempting to interrogate me, or else I will not hesitate to send you to the principal's office!"
Meiko's eyes widened for a split second, but she didn't budge. "All I'm saying is that it's not fair to the other students who have worked hard and prepared for this test. Besides, I'm close friends with Kaito, and I know he's a great singer. Maybe not with high range, but that's just my point. Kaito should be recognized for what he's truly capable of, not because the teacher's got a lousy crush on him."
The class let out a chorus of "ooh"s as the bell rang. Meiko got up and walked towards the teacher, who seemed embarrassed beyond belief, and began talking to her. (Y/n)'s eyes lingered on the two for a moment before Len grabbed her hand and led her out of the classroom before she'd make herself late to her next class. "You alright?"
(Y/n) nodded. "Somewhat. I'm glad that's over. I just felt a little overwhelmed by all that attention... especially because it was all so cliche. 'Oh wow! The shy girl's actually a great singer!'" She put on a fake voice for emphasis. "That's bound to be in an anime or something." Len chuckled but didn't press further. It was silent between the two for a while before Len reached his next class. He seemed hesitant.
"Hey, uh... after school, wanna hang out with m- er, us? All of us," he corrected. "I'm not exactly sure why I almost excluded everyone else."
(Y/n) excused it with the wave of her hand. "It's fine, I don't expect everyone to speak 100% accurately all the time! And sure, I'll meet up with you guys after school." She smiled and looked down. "Oh..."
They both noticed that while walking through the hallways, they never let go of each other's hands. Of course, there was no beyond-friendly intent behind it, but Len worried. "That's bound to cause some rumors," he sighed, (Y/n) nodding in agreement. They let go of each other's hands and bid their farewells.

As Len sat in class, he couldn't help but look forward to actually spending some time with the whole group after school with (Y/n) included. He was extremely grateful that he had the opportunity to actually become close friends with someone who wasn't insane, not that everyone else was, of course. It's just that when Miku and Rin are practically the ring-leaders, everyone else tends to become influenced by their actions, save for Luka, who's basically everyone's mom, and Haku and Neru, who were either shy (Haku) or annoyed (Neru).
People would often ship Len with others in the group, most commonly Miku, Kaito, or Neru. Not that they were terrible people, but the thought of being in a relationship with them in any romantic way seemed extremely unappealing to him.
What about me and (Y/n)?
He thought for a while. No, he thought, I definitely don't see her that way or anything. But I guess I wouldn't mind it. He shrugged and turned his attention back to what the teacher was instructing.

I started prewriting a chapter and realized that it wasn't supposed to happen like two or three chapters from now I must be so tired
*Often times I look kinda stupid when I sing high notes, so I added that to give the reader a more human feel by adding a small insecurity haha
I'm gonna start delving into the "main-character-and-reader-start-getting-crushes-on-one-another" stuff, but it's going to be reeeeeeally slow paced (but not excruciatingly slow either) because "love at first sight" doesn't seem like an appealing story to me
Anyways, I hope you like it!
>>Kinda short chapter. Sorry!
