"Just Friends" (Hayes Grier Fanfic)

Chapter 8

*Bethany's POV*

I woke up the next morning in a t-shirt and booty shorts and I didn't remember putting those on before I went to be to sleep last night. I just laid there in bed and thought about yesterday. I REALLY like Hayes and I just can't stand it. I like like so much but then I remember when he hurt me. Why can't I just forgive him for that? He put me through hell and now he's slowly pulling me back up to earth. Maybe he likes me. No Bethany what are you thinking? He would never like you. He is way out of my league. Jeez. I look at my phone and it's already 11:00. Hayes is still sleeping on the coach and then I remember that my brother Christian flys back to North Carolina today from his water polo tournament. I was strangely really excited to see him. I mean Christian and I have had a much closer relationship than most brothers and sisters have. We tell each other a lot and he helps me train for swimming and water polo. We really love each other and he's been gone for 2 weeks so I am super excited to see him. His flight comes in at 12:30 so I jump up and wake up Hayes and tell him to get dressed. I then ran and changed into my water polo sweatshirt and black denim shorts. I pulled my hair up into a messy ponytail and put on concealer, foundation, mascara, and brown eyeliner. I went to the bathroom and quickly put on deodorant and brushed my teeth, and I could just not wait to get to the airport. Hayes wasn't ready yet so I sat on my bed and went on my phone.

*Hayes POV*

I wake up to Bethany shaking me and telling me to get dressed fast. I knew this was coming and it came all to fast. It was the day that Bethany's brother came back from his water polo thing. She has told me so much about him, so I know how close of a relationship they have with each other and how much time they spend together. I am truly worried that he is going to take her away from me. I mean yes I know that I love Bethany with a different type of love than Christian does but still these past few days I have been with Bethany 24/7 and these have been the best days of my life.

*Bethany's POV*

While waiting for Hayes to finish getting ready I go to my phone and decide to text one of my best friends Sydney.

Bethany- Hey Si, I am so sorry that I haven't been talking to you for the past few days I've just been really busy with Hayes

Si🙉-It's ok

Okay so that was weird what's up with her? Well Si has always been kinda acting strange ever since I started hanging out with Hayes. She usually would start telling me all about her life! So then I moved on to a group message with my other two best friends Grace and Hazel.

Bethany- Hey guys I miss you so much sorry we haven't talked the past few days I've just been super busy with Hayes.

Hazel😸- No need to be sorry! Miss you too 😘

Grace😽- Yaas bby we've missed you! Isn't Christian coming home today?

Bethany- Yep

Bethany- Has Si been weird to you guys lately? She's been acting strange around me and idk why

Grace😽- No not to me but whenever we bring up your name she gets quiet.

Hazel😸- And tries to change the subject

Bethany- okay well I've gtg leave for the airport now love you guys❤️ Talk to you later

I put my phone in my pocket and looked up at Hayes who was ready to go.

"Hayes can you go ask Nash if he wants to come to the airport with us so he can meet Christian? I knew he was looking forward to this" I said

"Sure Beth."

*Hayes POV*

I walked out of the room and walked downstairs to the main level and then down to the basement. Damn Bethany is so beautiful I can't stand it. She is what I wake up to every morning and go to sleep to every night so I don't want to loose her to her brother. Now that would suck.

"Nash do you want to come to the airport with Bethany and I? We are going to pic up Christian and Tris (a/n: reminder tris is Bethany's mom) is giving us a ride." I said barging into the basement

"Yeah sure. Let's go." Nash stated kind of squealing.

We walked up to the main floor and Bethany and Tris we already waiting by the door. We all walked out to the car. Nash sat in the passenger seat so Brianna and I had the entire backseat to ourselves.

On the car ride we all made small talk. I slowly slid my hand over to Bethany's and interlocked my fingers with hers. She glanced at me and smiled.

"Don't let my family see this" she leaned over and whispered in my ear.

It sent chills down my whole body and I started to blush. Of course Bethany saw and giggled.

We got to the airport and all went to go meet Christian and the luggage claim. I see a guy who was probably 5'8" walk towards us. He had a toned body with Connor Franta's hair but blonde. He had perfect facial features and I can tell that all the girls must love him. Bethany's eyes grew wide as she ran to give him a hug along with Tris. So that must be Christian. I can tell that good looks run in the family.

I look at Nash and he was looking back at me. Neither of us knew what to do. It was awkward. Bethany grabbed Christian's hand and pulled him over towards Nash and I. She came up to us and said, " Christian, this is Nash, and this is Hayes. Nash is the same age as you so I think you guys should be friends." She talked with a huge smile across her face. We did our bro hug thing and we all made our way to the car. The whole way back to the car and then into the house, and then the rest of the day, Bethany spent it with Christian. This seems to be going just great (sarcasm). I went to our room and went on my phone. I decided to text Bethany's friend Sydney because nobody else was answering.

Hayes- Hey what's up?

Sydney- Nothing much, wbu?

Hayes- Well Bethany's brother just got back into town and so I have nobody to talk to. All of my friends have been busy to there not answering.

Sydney- Oh well that sucks :( I know what your saying about Brthany, she loves Christian so much. They are literally best friends, but in a brother sister type of way. It gets annoying. But since it sounds like you have no plans at all today, you wanna hang out?

Hayes- Yeah sure what do you wanna do?

Sydney- Meet me at the pool at 3:00?

Hayes- sure sounds good see you then.

I set down my phone and since it was already 2:15 I changed into my swim trunks and got some stuff together to bring to the pool. By the time I was ready it was 2:35 which left me just enough time to walk to the pool by 3. I went downstairs, told Bethany that I was going to hang out with a friend, and then left.

I got to the pool and saw Sydney waving at me from across the deck. She was in a hot pink bikini that made her boobs look huge. I always kinda thought she was a little on the slut side. Whatever.

She ran up to me and gave me a huge hug like we were best friends but actually we have only talked about 10 times. We got in the pool and made small talk. She was very touchy. And grabby. And she always had to be touching me in some way. Hasn't she ever heard of personal space? I looked around the pool deck and I saw a somebody that looked familiar and a boy standing next to her. They were too far away to tell who they were but they both walked closer to us.

Sydney swam over to me and wrapped her arms and legs around me. She started to lean in.

*Bethany's POV*

Christian and I decided to go to the pool together since Hayes went somewhere to hang out with a friend. We got there and I looked into the pool to see Sydney, my so called best friend, and Hayes, my best friend and crush, hugging in the water but then they started to lean in.
