The Hearing

Inside a prison cell, under the dormitories of the soldiers of the Survey Corps, a short girl lay on a mattress with her wrists chained to the wall behind her. Her short, dark brown, wavy hair covered most of her face, but her big hazel eyes were still visible, even in the darkness of the dungeon. Bored, she stared at the bars facing her, remembering her first moments outside the filthy underground.  The memory of her first time seeing the bright blue sky and feeling fresh, cold air caress her face would never leave her head. Oh, how free she had felt in that moment! She wondered how all of those people, who lived so freely everyday, didn't long for more freedom beyond the walls. Don't they want to see, to feel, what lies beyond the confines of this rock prison?
Her train of thought was interrupted by the sound of footsteps, getting closer and closer to her prison cell. Two shivering soldiers stood in front of the cell. She recognized their faces from three days ago. They were, along with 2 other soldiers, trying to restrain her so she could be brought in for questioning.
"M-Miss? It's t-time for y-your h-hearing...", said one of the two. They were frightened of her. After all, seeing how strong she was, who wouldn't be?
"Let's just get this over with.", said the girl.

After being escorted to the court, the girl's wrists were chained to a metal pole sticking out of the ground in the middle of the room. She wore a tattered shirt and old, brown shorts that didn't belong to her. Her skin crawled at the thought of all the filth and dirt that covered her clothing. She was forced to change the clothes she was captured in since they got ruined during her attempt to escape capture three days prior. She still preferred her own clothes to these filthy ones. Even if they were torn, at least they were clean.
"State your full name!", yelled the Judge.
The girl was too preoccupied with analyzing the people around her that she didn't even notice that she was being addressed.
She noticed a tall, blond man with bushy eyebrows staring at her intently. Next to him, she recognized a man she had seen when she got captured. "I think his name is Keith something...", she thought. On the other side of the blond man stood an excited-looking woman. She wore her straight auburn hair in a ponytail, and was intently staring at the girl through her thick goggles. Next to the excited woman stood a short, menacing man with jet black hair styled into an undercut. His cold blue-grey eyes stared into the girl's hazel ones expressionlessly, as if waiting for her to make a move.
"I SAID STATE YOUR FULL NAME!", yelled the judge impatiently.
The girl gave the judge a cold glare that sent chills down his spine.
"Sakura Pierce", she finally said.
"R-Right. I will now proceed by stating the crimes you have committed during your life in the underground city. If any of the accusations I am about to speak are false, you have the right to interrupt me. Theft, injuring men from the Military Police, violence.."
As the list went on, Sakura bent her head back as far as she could and, with amazing flexibility, pulled a pin out of her hair. Everyone in the room except the judge, who was still listing Sakura's crimes which he read from a report, had their eyes on Sakura. With baffling speed, she managed to pick the locks that imprisoned her wrists. Swiftly, she got up and dusted herself off, cutting off the judge.
"What do you want?", she demanded haughtily.
Baffled, the whole room stared back in surprise.
"E-Excuse me?", managed the judge.
"We all know you're not going to arrest me. If you wanted to, you could've just charged me and thrown me in a cell to rot. But instead, you decided to hold a hearing. What exactly is the point of this?", said Sakura, her words dripping with arrogance.
"Seize her immediately!", yelled the judge. "The hearing will proceed when she has learned some discipline and respect!"
5 soldiers charged Sakura in an attempt to capture her. She stood there with a bored expression on her face as the soldiers approached her.
"Isn't she going to defend herself?", thought Erwin, as he stared at the motionless girl.
However, as soon as one of the soldiers got close enough to touch her, Sakura grabbed him by the arm and threw him to the ground. The next soldier suffered a similar fate. The 3 other soldiers, terrified, froze. Sakura walked up to them and, with baffling speed, defeated all three of them. Two soldiers were on the floor unconscious, while three others lay in a pile, bleeding.
Sakura calmly stared back at the judge, waiting for his next move.
"I will give you two choices.", said the judge after a few minutes of thinking. "You will either be prosecuted for your actions, or you will join the Survey Corps and join the fight against the Titans. It is up to you to choose."
The girl gritted her teeth and gave the judge a steely glare. "And if I refuse both choices?"
"I'm afraid you don't have that luxury", said the judge. "You might be strong enough to take on 5 men at once, but I seriously doubt you can take on 20. So make your choice now."
Sakura Pierce gave the judge a final bone chilling look.
"Fine", she hissed. "I'll join your damn Survey Corps."
The short, menacing man hadn't taken her eyes off her throughout the whole hearing.
"Tch. Arrogant brat.", he thought. "I'll teach you a lesson about discipline you won't forget."
