KARYLLE'S PERSPECTIVE

We sat on the floor. Wow. I don't know what I'm feeling. This place, this solemn place is what I need, badly. I want to say something but I don't know if I can say it to him. He said he's willing to listen but I don't know how long.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, anything," he answered immediately. He's so attentive. Mukang willing talaga syang makinig.

"How many girls have passed your life?"

He stared at me, obviously shocked by my question. "That's your question? Oh, ah haha."

"Yes. But it's up to you if you'll answer it. I mean, if you think it's too pakialamera for me to ask such question, you can turn it down." He just continue to stare at me, seems like he's reading something in my eyes. I can't help but to stare at him too. " Sige, don't answer nalang. I understand." I said taking my eyes off of him.

"No, no. I will. You asked me so  I better answer," he said.

"Are you sure?"

"Maybe I should ask you the same question. Are you sure that you're asking me that question?"

"Yes. But if you're really going to answer it...exclude your family to your answer."

"Now you're making it hard for me."

"Why? Madaminasiguronoh?"

"No. Not really. But why are you asking me?"

"I'm just wondering..." Are we going emo? "...Are you all the same?"

"What do you mean?"

"You boys. Pare- pareholangba kayo? I mean, pag may nakitang iba. Is it that easy for you to let go someone if you found another."Is it right for me to share things like this to him? We barely know each other. Naumpisahan ko na eh and here, I can test if he can really be my friend.

"Not all boys are the same. It's like comparing two t-shirts, same color, same design pero magkakaiba yan sigurado sa material and sa durability. How long bago kumupas yung kulay nung isa, how long before masira. Pero sometimes it depends din kung pa'no mo sya inalagaan. Get what I mean? Medyo malabo ata."

"I think I get it." Kahit medyo malabo nga. But still, I get his point. Ganyan din ako.minsan, malabo. "Pero..."

"What?"

"Nothing. Let's change topic na  lang."

"I know there's something inside you. You need to spit it out to be able to move forward." What does he know? "But I'm not forcing you to tell it to me. If you think you're not yet ready, I'll respect it. Once again, I already said it, if you need a shoulder, I'm just a call away."

Silence.
