My eyes fluttered open as Archie yelled my name. I groaned as I tossed my blanket to the side. I looked into my mirror and stared for a moment. My hair was a mess and you could see the bags under my eyes. I reached into my dresser and pulled out a sweater and jeans. I made sure the door was still locked because if Archie walked in again. I shuddered at the memory. Just no.

I slipped off my sweats and one of Archie's shirts that he'd outgrown and tossed them to side as I slipped on my fresh clothes. I brushed my black and red hair as I hummed a familiar song in my head. "Slap me, pull my hair. Touch me there and there and there, " I began to sing to myself. Archie isn't the only person in this damn family that sings.

"Jesus. Please never sing that again," Archie yelled. Shit. I always seem to forget that these walls are thin.

I put on my socks and shoes and stared into the mirror. I grabbed my backpack and slung it over my shoulder. I unlocked my door and ran down the stairs. Archie was in the kitchen with dad and they were eating toast. I grabbed the piece generously laying out for me and ate it as quickly as I could.

"You guys want a ride to school," dad asked.

"Nah. I'm going to walk with Roni," Archie said.

"I'll gladly take a ride. A lonely walk isn't good for my mental state," I accepted the offer quickly.

"You could always walk with Veronica and I," Archie suggested.

"I'm good. That is a long and awkward walk," I dismissed Archie's offer because it really was awkward to be around Veronica. Maybe because I told her I'd kill her if she hurt Archie. She probably thinks that I'm the Black Hood at this point.

Except she didn't know about the note. Almost nobody did. Other than Jug and Betty, but they had walked by and seen it. Betty had said it wasn't like the one she'd gotten. The note had simply said to watch my back. Then my locker had been filled with images of the victims. Definitely can't unsee that.

"Your loss. I know how much you love my flirting with Veronica," Archie said and I rolled my eyes.

"It isn't flirting if all you talk about is how you two had fantastic sex," I said and smirked as Archie's cheeks began to turn pink and I chuckled. "I'll be in the truck," I yelled as I walked out of the house.

I opened the truck door and rested my back against the seat and closed my eyes. I could picture that note perfectly. The words threatening my life.

I didn't notice my dad's presence until the truck roared to laugh and made me jump. He chuckled to himself as he began driving toward the school. "So. Any guys you like," Dad said, attempting conversation. "I mean you and that Brad dude or whatever his name is," he started and my eyes grew with horror.

"God no. Dad he's gay. Probably gayer than Kevin," I said and gagged.

"Oh. So do you like anyone," he asked and I could feel an occasional glance in my direction. Only one of my best friend's boyfriends and also my brother's best friend.

"Nah. No man has caught my eye yet," he let out an audible sigh of relief.

"Well if you ever do, make sure to have the proper protection," he began.

"Oh my god dad. I get it. Birth control and condoms and all those things. Oh look the school. Just stop here," I said and the moment it was safe to get out, I waved and ran away. I think my cheeks were burning. Most likely after my dad tried to give me the safe sex talk.

I went inside and sat in the student lounge. Reggie walked in and winked at me. Jesus Christ. Was the only thing guys at this fucking school do is be dumb flirts? Other than Archie (at least now) Kevin, Braeden, and Jughead. I am honestly pretty sure those are the only guys who don't flirt with every girl in the school and that's because two of them are gay.

It sucked that Jughead went to a different school because I never see him anymore other than the occasional run in at Pop's. It's strange though. He isn't really a Serpent, but goes to school with them, while Braeden goes to school with us and has became a full Serpent. Probably because Alice would never allow her son to go to school in the Southside.

Speaking of, he sat next to me on the couch. "I fucking hate the dress code now. Where the hell does it say that I can't wear a leather jacket and show my tattoo," he complained for the fifth time.

"Because this is the Northside where you can't show any sign of difference because Heaven forbid that anyone isn't one hundred percent perfect," I said and I could feel Reggie giving us the stink eye. He may flirt with me, but he absolutely hates the fact that I support the Southside Serpents.

"Hey Serpent fag. What's it like being a bitch for all those other men," Reggie snarled. Braeden and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes.

"I don't know Mantle. What's it like sniffing jockstraps in the locker room because you can't get none," Braeden asked and I snickered. Everyone else in the room looked between them and continued their normal business.

"Sometimes I wonder how your alive," I whispered and shook my head.

"Same here," he whispered before getting picked up and slammed into a wall. I stood and ripped Reggie off.

"Don't try anything or else I'll fuck you up," I growled and Reggie backed up slowly.

"You know you didn't have to save me," Braeden said, but I could see he was happy.

"Just because your a Southside Serpent, doesn't mean you're the toughest person here," I said and he chuckled.

"Why does Reggie get scared by you again," he asked.

"He grabbed my ass once and I beat him so bad, he was in the hospital for weeks and he couldn't do anything because he touched me there," I said and he smiled.

"I'd hate to be the guy who breaks your heart," he said and we headed to our first class.
