Kyungsoo is in a bad mood since two weeks, and Jongdae and Minseok can't stand his presence anymore. He has moved back into his apartment as the press doesn't seem to be overly interested in him anymore since Jongin's and his relationship doesn't cause any real scandals, but his friends often come over for a visit.
"Your face makes me depressed", Jongdae claims one day, pointing at Kyungsoo's emotionless stare. The black haired just shrugs and makes a sound like "Mh."
"See? That's exactly why! You look like a sculpture with that sad face. Try smiling, Soo, the world is not over just because your crush didn't hug you when you two parted ways."
Kyungsoo sighs and rolls his eyes. The only emotion he's shown within two weeks is distress over Jongdae.
"How often do I need to tell you that it's not that", Kyungsoo groans. "Plus, he's not my goddamn crush!"
"Oh yeah, I forgot, your chests are glowing in the same colour, of course you are right, he's not your crush, he's your fucking soulmate! God, Kyungsoo, when will you realize that you two being soulmates means that you two are bound forever!? It is completely natural to have feelings for him!"
Jongdae continues his rage but Kyungsoo doesn't listen. He knows his friend is right, he's had soulmate bonding in school, too. The teachers had explained a soulmate bond to be irreplaceable and indestructable. Even though it turns out your soulmate is your worst enemy, destiny has it that you two will continuously be bound. It just doesn't explain in what way. And when your soulmate is missing from you, they say it feels as if you're not complete. As if a part of you is gone.
Kyungsoo can't confirm that. Right now, he doesn't even feel like a part of himself. Actually, he feels like nothing.
"It will turn out good, Kyungsoo, you'll see." Minseok cheers him up and the black haired tries a thankful smile but fails. After a while, his friends say goodbye and leave again, they are going to the cinema in the evening, and Kyungsoo is left alone once again. He kills some time by surfing the web, looking for a new job. He needs to earn some money, and with a little luck, he'll get a job in a similar position as he used to be working in.
He jumps at the sudden doorbell, and he notices how much time has passed. It is already quarter past ten in the evening. He frowns. Who wants anything from him at this hour? Jongdae and Minseok maybe, for whatever reason? Probably. He gets up and actuates he intercom.
"Who is it?"
"It's your delivery service."
Kyungsoo's frown intensifies.
"Delivery service? I didn't call any."
"But this is building 54, apartment 607 on Sangbonro, isn't it?"
"It is, but..."
Remembering Minseok calling someone over his telephone earlier today, he sighs. It has happened once that his friends ordered something to his place but left before it arrived.
"Wait a second."
He unlocks his door and opens it, just to be greeted by a rather tall and lean young man in a red polo shirt and cap.
"Listen, I didn't order anything today."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course I am, I'm not-"
But Kyungsoo interrupts himself as he notices the amused grin on the delivery boy's face and his eyes grow wide. But before one of them could say anything, Kyungsoo grabs the red polo shirt and pulls the boy inside.
"God damn, what do you think you're doing!? Somebody could have seen you!"
The grin on the delivery boy's face grows wider and transforms into a full hearted laugh that makes Jongin look irresistible.
"Sorry, Kyungsoo-ssi", he says, removing his cap and exposing messy, light brown hair. Kyungsoo's heart skips a beat and a slight smile creeps up his lips. He hits Jongin on the upper arm.
"You idiot, what are you doing here!?"
"I had some free time and I thought visiting my soulmate would be awesome since we haven't seen each other in a while." The grin on his face is blinding. Kyungsoo tries to hide the fact that his ears feel awkwardly warm, and so, he just grins stupidly.
"How considerate. But you are very busy, aren't you? How did your manager let you go?"
"A-ah, well..."
Jongin scratches his head mischievously, and Kyungsoo understands.
"Oh no, don't tell me you left without permission? Oh no, no, no, Jongin, please no! If you miss something because you were visiting me, it's me to blame."
"No, calm down. Everything's alright. I have some free days now, the advertisement for Versace is already done and the one for Missha is done, too. The next thing on my schedule is the advertisement for my new single, but that is just in two days. No need to worry."
The black haired sighs relieved. He really doesn't need any more press than he already has had, and him having a bad influence on great Kim Kai certainly would be a wonderful headline. They stand there for a short but very awkward while until Kyungsoo moves.
"Erm, do you want some tea or coffee? I also have juice, if you want some."
"Tea would be awesome, thanks."
The black haired nods and scurries away to the kitchen corner. Jongin meanwhile takes in everything from his soulmate's apartment, and suddenly, Kyungsoo is ashamed of it. It must be way tinier than Jongin's usual residence, and the furniture doesn't match the floor or each other at all. But the popstar takes everything in with interest, scanning over the tons of books Kyungsoo owns and inspecting his tiny collection of wind-up tin toys.
"It's really cozy here", Jongin beams and Kyungsoo's ears are getting hot again. He nods in agreement and mutters a silent "Thanks" before putting the tea on the couch table.
They talk for a while and Kyungsoo totally forgets to be awkward around him again. He laughs and smiles about Jongin's stories from work, and he likes listening to his voice and silent laughs in between. They decide to watch a movie before Jongin has to leave again, and they end up watching Big Hero 6. But even though Kyungsoo's couch isn't really small, they end up sitting on one side only, chips in between them. Kyungsoo's eyes become heavier and heavier and with every minute, it becomes harder to keep them open.
“Kyungsoo-ssi", Jongin mutters softly, caressing the black haired's head. "Take a nap."
"No...", Kyungsoo murmurs, not really convinced by himself. "If I fall asleep... I won't wake up until tomorrow."
"It's fine", Jongin reassures. "I'm here, I'll take care of you, Kyungsoo-ssi"
"Stop that stupid honorific, idiot. Just call me Hyung."
And finally, Kyungsoo's eyes close and his head sinks down on Jongin's shoulder. Now he understands what his teachers wanted to tell them. He doesn't necessarily feel empty when Jongin isn't near. But he certainly feels warmer, fuller, more complete when in company of his soulmate.
And most importantly, he doesn't feel alone.
