"When I was younger I literally burned everything I touched. I was destructive. So that's how I see fire."
"I don't think it's destructive at all. Only if you use it that way. I think it's a source of light."

Bending water is a difficult task for me. I've had all the trainers and I'm such a lost case. I practice everyday but I haven't gotten any better at it. I've read scrolls, and books, and ancient readings from the caves— nothing helps. I can feel the water's energy pulling me instead of me pulling it.
My mother has told me stories about the other nations elements and they're quite interesting:
Air. It's the only element that anyone can't see. It can creep up if you don't listen for it. The air benders can be air-heads sometimes but that's a stereotype. The Great Air Nomads have been known to create natural disasters but haven't because they want peace.
Earth. I've heard legends about amazing earth benders separating parts of the earth's crust to form an island to keep away from tyrants. Only the best earth benders can bend metal and lava bend. My mom says they're all head-strong and again another stereotype.
Fire. The fire benders destroy everything. They've wiped out entire villages and left all the people to burn. They're hot-headed and it's a fact. The "great" fire bendershave taken over Air land and claim it as theirs. Also, back on their land some have been known to create lightning as well.
Water benders are more lenient with situations. We can be emotional but try not to be. Our great benders have built the North and South Sea in two days from collecting water from the air. Only selected people who water bend could take water from living things and blood bend.
Although the stories came from my mother whom has gotten it from her mother— I don't truly believe it unless it's from that nation. I know that our stories are true because my grandfather was a blood bender and it supposedly skips generations only in the royal family. So that means I'm supposed to blood bend as well as take water from living things. I can't even do a basic water bending task let alone control another person or take water from plants.
My feet are still on the snow, legs spread apart, I breathe, and I lift up the water from the cup. It shakes as I try to make it into a perfect circle and freeze it. The water falls onto the snow and I let my breathe out.
"At least the water didn't freeze up when you didn't want it to." I hear my father's voice from behind me.
"Little steps right?" I smile, looking back at him.
"Little steps. You shouldn't get worked up over it— and breathe. Water has oxygen in it remember? You have to inhale and exhale to control it. You also have to have a task in mind. What are you stressed about?"
"The meeting with the South prince and princess. I don't like either of them."
"We could always wed you a nice earth or air bender? But we have too keep the bending pure and what will the people say?"
