Chapter Notes
ive come back to update each chapter and finally give this story a ending after quite
afew messages asking for it to continueGadget walked through the streets with an air of jubilation, relishing in the glorious sunlight of the
day that marked the end of a long, hard-fought battle. As he made his way through the crowd,
basking in their grateful expressions, he felt a sense of accomplishment that he couldn't quite put
into words. His friend Sonic the Hedgehog, leader of the resistance and Gadget's inspiration, took
to the stage to address the crowd, declaring that they could finally be at peace as the war had
ended.
Sonic the Hedgehog looked out at the crowd, feeling a sense of pride and gratitude swelling in his
chest. The resistance had emerged victorious after a long and gruelling battle, and the city was
finally free from Eggman's tyranny. As he spoke to the crowd, Sonic couldn't help but think about
the sacrifices that had been made to get to this point. He glanced over at Gadget, smiling.
"Today, we stand here victorious," Sonic declared, his voice ringing out over the cheering crowd.
"We have proven that even in the face of adversity, we can emerge triumphant. We have shown
that hope and courage can overcome even the darkest of evils."
He paused, looking out at the sea of faces before him. "But we cannot forget the sacrifices that
were made to get us here. We lost friends and loved ones along the way. We saw the destruction
and devastation that Eggman's forces wrought upon our city. And yet, through it all, we never gave
up. We never lost sight of what we were fighting for."
. "Let us not forget what we are capable of. Let us remember that even when faced with seemingly
insurmountable odds, we can still emerge victorious. And let us use this victory as a stepping stone
towards a brighter future for our city and for ourselves."
He paused, looking out at the crowd one more time. "We have won this battle, but the war is far
from over. We must remain vigilant, we must stay united, and we must never forget the sacrifices
that were made to get us here. Together, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way."
But amidst the celebration, Gadget couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. WhileEggman had retreated after the final barrage of attacks, there was no sign of Infinite, infinite was
not among the fleeing forces, the notorious war criminal who had somehow managed to elude
capture simply vanished during the final fight As the flags were lowered and the last remnants of
the battle were cleared, Gadget couldn't help but wonder where Infinite had gone. Did he retreat to
a dark corner, allowing death to claim him, or had he managed to escape with powers unknown to
the resistance?
Gadget grappled to the top of the tallest building in the area, scanning the ruined city below him.
The city was in shambles, with smog billowing from the windows of deserted buildings surrounded
by mountains of crushed debris. As he looked out over the destruction, Gadget couldn't help but
feel guilty. He had been complicit in the violence that had ravaged the city, and he couldn't shake
the feeling that he should have done more to prevent it.
His thoughts were interrupted by a disturbance in the distance. Gadget vaulted over the debris and
landed on a nearby rooftop, cautiously approaching the source of the noise. As he drew closer, he
could see through the dust and debris the silhouette of someone sprawled across the floor, a trail of
blood leading away from them. He recognized the dark grey male with white locks and white
stripes running down his back and sides. It was Infinite. He raged at his defeat, furious that he had
lost to such weak soldiers. He slammed his fist against a collapsed sign, angry at himself for being
a failure before collapsing.
Gadget approached with caution, one hand sliding to his concealed blade. But as he drew closer, he
saw the extent of Infinite's injuries. The male was badly wounded, with deep gashes and cuts
covering his body. Despite the heinous crimes that Infinite had committed, Gadget couldn't help
but feel a sense of pity for the fallen soldier. No one deserved to suffer like this.
Infinite hearing steps behind him pushed himself up and looked up at Gadget, his eyes filled with
pain and desperation. " Leave me alone to die," he fiercely choked and clutched his abdomen, the
blood flow increasing as his chest heaved with hacking coughs. He growled angrily
Gadget hesitated, unsure of what to say’. He had been taught to view Infinite as an enemy, but
seeing him in this state, he couldn't help but feel a sense of compassion or pitty . "My name is
Gadget," he finally said, extending a hand to help the fallen soldier up. "Can you stand?"
Infinite simply glared "Why... why are you helping me. I failed! I failed!" through the laughing,
his eyes drooped heavily, "I don't have anything to live for..."?" his voice barely audible at this
point.
Gadget paused, unsure of how to respond. He knew that helping Infinite went against everything he
had been taught, but something inside him compelled him to offer aid. "I... I don't know," he said
finally. "It just... feels like the right thing to do."
Infinite looked at Gadget for a moment, his eyes filled with confusion and pain. "I don't
understand," he said finally. "Why would you help me? After everything I've done?"
Gadget hesitated, struggling to find the right words. He knew that Infinite was a war criminal , he
was notorious in the resistance , horror stories told about him and his vicious act, responsible for
countless deaths and acts of violence but gadget never saw it only heard of it from reports. But
looking at him now, broken and wounded, Gadget couldn't help but feel a sense guilt and second
guessing if those stories were truly true . "I... I don't know," he said finally. "I just... can't leave you
here
Gadget hesitated again, unsure of what to do. Should he really be helping him? But then again,
Gadget couldn't bring himself to leave someone in such a dire state. It went against everything he
stood for as a soldier and as a person.
"I...I'm here to help," Gadget said tentatively, slowly sheathing his blade. "Can you talk? What
happened to you?"
Infinite's eyes narrowed; his expression guarded
Gadget hesitated again, but then he looked down at the injured jackal. No matter what crimes he
had committed, no one deserved to suffer like this. "I do know who you are," he admitted. "But
that doesn't mean I should leave you here to die. Can you tell me what happened?" he asked again
Infinite looked away, his expression pained. "I was...defeated," he muttered, gritting his teeth. "By
those fools who call themselves the resistance, They...they were stronger than I thought so I was
left to die here by Robotnick."
Gadget frowned. "Why did you even fight for Eggman in the first place if he just tosses you away
when he’s done with you? You must have known he was a tyrant who only cared about power."
Infinite's eyes flashed with anger. "You think I didn't know that? You think I enjoyed serving him?
I had no choice. He...he gave me purpose he gave me the one thing that gave me power , the ruby,
no one else would. He made me feel...strong. Invincible. But now...now I'm just a failure. A
broken tool, cast aside."
Gadget felt a twinge of sympathy for the jackal. He could understand the feeling of being used and
discarded. But at the same time, he couldn't condone Infinite's actions. "You made your choices,"
he said firmly. "And you have to live with the consequences. But that doesn't mean you deserve to
die alone in the rubble like a dog. Let me help you." But in the back of gadgets mind, he realized
that Infinite was just as much a victim of Eggman's tyranny manipulated and used.
Infinite hesitated, his expression conflicted. Gadget could tell he was struggling with his own inner
demons. But then, with a resigned sigh, he nodded. "Fine. Help me up. But don't think this means I
owe you anything."
Gadget nodded and helped Infinite to his feet, bracing him against his shoulder. He could feel the
weight of the jackal's body pressing down on him, but he didn't falter. He was determined to get
Infinite to safety, no matter what it took.
As they made their way through the ruined city, Gadget couldn't help but feel a sense of despair
wash over him. The destruction was worse than he had imagined. Entire buildings had collapsed,
their remains scattered across the streets. Cars lay overturned and burned, their metal frames
twisted and warped. And everywhere he looked, he saw the bodies of those who had fallen in
battle. It was a sobering reminder of the cost of war.
Gadget carried Infinite to his rundown home, struggling with the weight of the injured jackal as he
soon lost consciousness. As Gadget drags the unconscious Infinite to his couch, he takes a moment
to look around his rundown home. The walls are dirty and peeling, with cracks and holes here and
there. The furniture is old and worn out, with the couch being the only thing remotely comfortable.
The floorboards creak under his weight, and the air is stale and dusty. A resistance flag hanging
from the ceiling .
Staring at the wounded body, he cringed. "I hope this blood doesn't stain my couch. It'll never
come out!"
Gadget knows that his home is not much, but it's the best he has. But he also knows that he can't
take the risk of bringing him to a better place where he might be recognized and caught.
As he stares at Infinite on the couch, Gadget's fears start to bubble up inside him. What if someone
finds out? What if the Resistance discovers that he's harbouring a criminal? What if they think he's turned traitor and execute him?
Gadget knows that he's taking a huge risk by helping Infinite, but he can't shake off the feeling that
it's the right thing to do. He's always been a soldier, always followed orders, but now he's doing
something that goes against everything he's been taught.
Despite his fears, Gadget resolves to keep Infinite safe and hidden, no matter what it takes. He
knows that it won't be easy, but he's determined to see it through. Infinite stirred slightly, muttering
something incoherent under his breath.
Gadget sighed heavily, looking at the wounded jackal. "You're lucky I have a soft spot for strays,"
he muttered under his breath. "But don't get any ideas. You're not my friend. You're not my ally”
although he didn’t get a response, it gave him some relief .
but I mustn't let anyone find out about this. As it wouldn't only be infinites head on a spike
