Leah's POV
I stand in the hallway just staring blankly. I hear muffled voices, but I'm too much in shock to register the words. It is not until my father crosses the threshold into Jennifer's home that I return to my harsh reality.
"Get the fuck out!" I scream at him. He furrows his eyebrows and gives me a very nasty look. "You do not get to do this. You cannot come in her and I am damn sure not leaving with you. Fuck off. You have ruined everything." I hiss, tearing flowing rapidly from both my eyes.
I slam the apartment door in his face, leaving myself on one side and him on the other. I slide down the wall, still in my towel and cry. I cry, and cry...and cry.
I just watched my girlfriend get arrested in her own home all at the hands of my cruel, heartless father. I hate him.
After a couple of minutes pass, I remember what Jennifer told me as they guided her out. Her sister. I have to call her.
I quickly run to the bedroom and find Jennifer's phone. Unfortunately, I do not know her password. I have never needed to. I think hard and type n several guesses, but it is useless.
"Fuck!! Think, dammit!" I scream to myself, tears still blurring my vision. I try using my birthdate and it unlocks. That is sweet. My birthday is her password.
I quickly go through her contacts and find her sister's name. I call the number and compose myself the best I can. This is not good.
Her sister answers and she is confused. Obviously, she is expecting Jennifer's voice. Not mine.
"Hello? Who is this?"
"Hi, yeah... I know this sounds really crazy, but I am Jennifer's girlfriend. Something terrible just happened and Jennifer got arrested. She told me to call you immediately." I explain, my voice all nasally from the crying.
"What? Jennifer got arrested?"
"It is a very long story. Can you help?" I ask, too frazzled to explain anything to her.
"I- yeah. I mean, I think. Who are you? Where are you and where is my sister?"
"My name is Leah! I am at her apartment right now and I don't know where she is. I am really scared and I need help. Please, fix this." I beg her sister.
"Alright. Look, I am going to hang up and wait for a call. She is going to call me once they get her booked and whatnot. I can be at her apartment in thirty minutes, will you be there?" her sister asks, very calm and professional like.
"I'll be here."

Jennifer's sister knocks on the door and I open it wearing one of Jennifer's hoodies and some shorts. I have red, swollen eyes from the constant crying and her sister is so well put-together. She is wearing a full pant-suit and heels.
"You must be Leah?" She asks from the door. I nod my head and let her come inside, closing and locking the door behind me. She sighs and walks to the kitchen table and puts her things down.
"I just spoke to Jennifer. She's being held downtown right now. She briefly explained to me what she could without completely incriminating herself, but I need you to be completely honest with me. Tell me what the hell is going on with you and my sister." She says.
I swallow hard and look up to the ceiling.
"Jennifer and have been together for several months on and off. I lied to her in the beginning about my age so she wouldn't leave me, and when she found out the truth she left. We got back together because we both love one another and my father is a psycho and had her locked up for sleeping with a minor." I say. Her sister listens intently, not a shred of judgement on her face.
"So, is it true? Are you underage and sleeping with Jennifer?" She asks, being very clear. I nod my head yes and wipe my cheeks again. "Dammit. Okay, listen to me. This is not a good situation and I do not know how this is going to play out. I will say this... whatever you do, do not say a word about anything that is going on or has gone on between you and Jen to anyone. Understand?" She asks. I nod my head and she points to the door, wanting me to leave.
"What?! No! I am not going." I say. "Leah, you are seventeen. You are the reason my sister is wearing those gorgeous silver bracelets right now, so I suggest you leave. Your parents have control over you either way. You camping out at Jennifer's apartment will only make this look worse for her. Okay?" Her sister says, looking at me with kind eyes. "I can't talk to her?" "I would strongly advise against it." She informs me. I get chills all over my body and nod my head slowly.
I guess this is what it is going to have to be. This sucks. I am so scared, I know Jennifer must be absolutely mortified. I need to see her. I need to tell her I love her.
"Okay. I'll go, but please tell her I love her." I beg. She nods and smiles a little, "I will, Leah. Get home and try to lay low." "Thank you, Danielle."
Who would have thought I would meet her family this way? And who would have thought her sister would be so nice about all of this? I mean, I am very thankful for her, but it hasn't hit me yet. The initial shock of it hit me, but when the actual realization that my girlfriend is in jail...waiting to see a judge... because of me... When that hits me it is going to be awful. I already feel like I am falling apart in this moment, but I know for a fact that this is only the beginning. It is all downhill from here.
