Shima waited for Hana to return from her run and wanted to seriously question her about that boy who insisted on joining her. She had her reservations about boys wanting to get to know Hana and his type he seemed the most untrustworthy of them all in her eyes, with the bandana on his head to the murderous expression on his face. No doubt was she about to let him get any closer to her sister and she would make it clear to him about it.
"Hello! Earth to Shima? Ready to go to lunch? My legs and back hurt from those hurkies and you can be sure I'm not missing lunch too." Yura grabbed her by the arm and pulled her towards Hana to latch herself on her other arm before heading towards the giant cafeteria. The girls had teams had separate tables, and it was a good thing too if they wanted to keep the peace inside this camp. Shima, Hana and Yura grabbed their lunch and sat next to Kireko and Asahina.
"So, did you girls learn your lesson this morning?" Kireko asked as she took a sip of her water.
The girls nodded and as Shima looked up, she noticed Hana's full attention somewhere else, so she followed her gaze and saw the bandana boy gazing back at her too. "Excuse me, Captain, I'll be back." With that, Shima stood and walked over to the boys table and stood over Kaidoh. "Hi, is there a reason you keep making goo-goo eyes at my sister over there?" She crossed her arms and glared at him.
Kaidoh's eyes got wide in shock.
"Well, let me help you out. She's not interested."
"I'm sorry I think you got the wrong idea. Kaidoh was looking at the schedule at the wall over your sister's head." Tezuka stated as kept reading the newspaper, trying to find anything interesting. She looked back and instantly her cheeks turned red.
"I-I'm so sorry, I-I thought--"
"Nevermind that, just realize next time you want to point a finger at one of my team members, to be sure that your information is accurate." Tezuka looked up then and met her gaze through his glasses. She turned bright red not just from his lecture but because he had been extremely handsome. She finally pulled herself together and cleared his throat.
"Well, I'm sorry. I'm just protective." Without Tezuka saying anything else, she immediately began to walk away when she stopped dead in her tracks, realizing she didn't deserve that not one bit, and walked straight up to the Seigaku captain. "Listen here, Mister, I don't care if your captain of the friggin' world, I don't deserve to be talk to like that!" At this the whole cafeteria died down and looked their way and Tezuka then put his newspaper down before standing up to her, making her shrink down in size compared to him, but she never faltered as she put her hand on her hip and glared at him.
"You have some courage standing up to me like this. Who do you think you are?" Tezuka glared back, but in fascination. Most women were intimidated by him.
Shima lifted her head high, pulled her shoulders back and looked him dead in the eye. "I am the eldest daughter of Shika Hakufuma and Hinata Hakufuma, and the eldest twin of Hana Hakufuma! So, yes, I have the right to be protective over my YOUNGER sister when it comes to boys. Stop being so sensitive over hurt feelings; you're a captain for God's sake!" With that she turned on her heels and walked back to her table as everyone's eyes followed with gaped jaws and a wide confident smirk on hers.
Captain Momoshi laughed and raised her glass, and smiled at the tennis captain. "Looks like the captain in training is finally stepping up toy the plate." At this, that whole table snapped their necks towards her with dumbfounded looks on their faces.
Unfortunately, it was Asahina who spoke up as she shot up from her seat and looked at Kireko, who had her head down and let out a groan, pissed off. "Wait! What? I was the next in line to become captain."
Kintaro leaned forward to his table. "Dramaaa."
"Stay out of it, Kintaro, its a girl thing." Shiraishi scolded while drinking his tea.
Suddenly, Coach Takamori came into the discussion, shutting everyone up. "Oh, you all didn't know? Woopsies!" Momo giggles with fake innocence.
"Momoshi, you may be captain, but I can still make you do herkies, don't test me. Now, before a fight breaks out let me explain, which that little comment shouldn't have been said out loud in front of the rest of the team. Your captain and I have discussed the upcoming new year's captain and since Shima meets all the requirements to becoming the new captain, we have decided for you to be in the running-"
"This is bullshit!" Asahina pushed the table in rampage as she stormed off.
"Asa!"
"Go to hell!" She yelled at Kireko before shoving the doors open to the outside courts.
"Look, I appreciate the confidence in me, but Asa is right. She was meant to be captain next year and she worked really hard for it. It wouldn't be right if I took everything she worked for. She deserves not me."
"It isn't your place. Once the board decides who leading who into the finals, the decision isn't up for discussion." Momoshi said in a matter of fact with a hint of snarky tone.
"She's right, the boards are already looking at you and pointing in your corner."
Momo laughed and leaned close to Shima's face. "Congrats, you just became the most backstabbing friend in your posy and for the slot of becoming captain of course." With that she tossed her hair back and with the biggest smile on her face stormed back to her table. Takamori sighed in annoyance before leaving.
Kireko stepped in, and stroked her arm. "She's such a bitch. You aren't a backstabber."
Shima shook her off. "I may not be, but you are. How you could not me this?"
"I thought you were leading into the nationals next year too." Yura stated in confusion. "Are you leaving?"
"Look, its a topic I cant get into, but yes, I'm leaving."
At that, a sneer could be heard in front of them where Momo sat. "Still telling lies after being called a backstabber, how funny."
Without thinking, Kireko snapped as she charged at her making Momo fall out of her seat in terror and she was close to reaching her until with the command from Yukimura, Genichiro grabbed her before she could reach for her hair. "You did this! Because of you I have to leave, you stupid bitch." Kireko wiped the tears that fell down her cheeks but she kept sobbing as she pushed him off of her and ran out of the cafeteria without another word.
