The Last Chapter: Brendan's POV
I had just finished practice with the boys, it felt great to be back on the ice with them even if I wasn't cleared to play just yet.
I opened the door to my apartment and slammed it closed behind me.
"Y/N!"
I sat my hockey bag down and was surprised when I didn't hear a reply. Y/N was always home.
"Babe, I'm home from practice!"
I wandered into the kitchen, opening the fridge and retrieving a Gatorade. As I turned around I noticed a piece of paper sitting on the counter. Maybe Y/N had left a note, maybe she went to get groceries or something.
I opened the note, expecting to see a quick note scribbled on it but instead found a carefully written paragraphed note. I sat down on the counter and read.
No.
No.
NO.
I couldn't believe what I had read, I scanned over it, it had to be a joke. But then it dawned on me, she would never joke about something like this. I stood up, I paced the living room and turned to the window. I stared down at Montreal before me and whipped my open Gatorade at the glass with as much force as I could. The liquid spilled out as it flew across the room, as it hit the window the force of my throw shattered the window and set of my security alarm. I sunk to the ground, re-reading the last line on the note over and over again until I sobbed heavily. I cried Y/N's name until I couldn't cry anymore. It's okay to cry, I could just imagine Y/N saying that to me, her hand running down my back softly, her kisses softly pressed to my shoulder as I let out another sob. It's as if she was here with me but I couldn't see her. And that was possibly the worst thing someone could ever feel.
