The New Kid

Afterwards/Vanessa's Birthday

My phone got an alert saying that I got a text. I woke up and looked at the time; midnight. I looked at my phone, and it was from Sebastian.

Sebastian: Happy birthday beauitful :)

I smiled and texted him back.

Me: Thanks Voldemort

I put my phone down and went back to sleep. I already knew it was going to be a good day.

I wake up that morning and go downstairs to see Mom making breakfast. "After breakfast," she starts, "we're going to have a mother/daugter day. We shall celebrate this day by going to the mall!" I smile really big. I haven't been to the mall since Mom and I went shopping for a homecoming dress.

I run over and hug Mom really tight and say with excitement, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Mom responds, "No problem. By the way, do you want to get some Starbucks when we go and bring Judy some? Haven't been there for a while, and we haven't seen Judy in a long while." I answer, "Yes Mom, we can."

After breakfast, Mom and I get ready to go to the mall. I brought some cash so she doesn't go broke because of Hot Topic.

I walk downstairs and meet with Mom so we could leave. "Ready?" she asks. I nod and we go outside and get in the car. We drive off, and I say, "I brought my own money so you don't become broke." Mom says, "Hun, my boss gave me a raise so I could spend it on you." I respond in a sarcastic tone, "I'll remember to send them a 'Thank You' card." She slaps my arm a little and says, "Shut up." I giggle little and we continue the short path to the mall.

We get there and climb out of the car. Mom and I walk into the mall and stop at Starbucks. We get a couple mochas and a raspberry lemonade for Judy. We walk around and find the dress outlet.

Mom and I walk in and see Judy at the front desk. "Hey guys!" she says. "How was the dance?" she asks me. I answer, "It was amazing." Judy exclaims, "That's awesome! Can I see a picture of this guy?" Mom shows her one of the pictures of Sebastian and I she took before we left for the dance. "He's cute!" Judy says. I answer, "I know he is." Mom, Judy, and I giggle a little and Judy asks, "Are you guys together?" I answer with confidence, "Yes, and our six month anniversary was yesterday." Judy smiles and says, "Well I'm happy for you two." I smile back and reply, "Thanks!"

We talk with Judy for a while, then we leave. "Vanessa," Mom says, "I got a little surprise for you." I ask, "What is it?" She answers, "You'll find out."

Mom and I walk around the mall and stop at the piercing place. At the front, there was a lady with a nose piercing and an on going tattoo sleeve on her left arm. "Hi! How can I help you?" Mom answers, "I called earlier to make a little appointment for my daughter, Vanessa." (Yeah, this place was always busy, so you had to make an appointment/reservation.) I got confused for a second, then I realized that the other day I told Mom I wanted to get my belly button pierced. 

The lady replies, "Of course! Come with me!"  Mom and I follow her down this small hallway to a room with many different needles and piercing guns. The lady says, "Just lay down right there and I'll be back in a sec." I do what she said and said to Mom, "Oh my gosh, thank you!" Mom smiles and says, "Eh, it was nothing."

The lady comes back in with a silver belly button ring. "I'm just gonna start you off with silver just so you could get used to it," she says. I nod slightly. She continues, "You might be here for a little bit, so I'm just gonna say that I'm Cathelene so you don't feel awkward." I wave a little and say, "You probably already know my name." Cathelene giggles and says, "Yep."

She picks up my shirt to show my stomach. Cathelene asks me questions to get my mind off of the needles about to go through me. "Got a boyfriend?" she asks for the first question. I answer, "Yeah, I do." She pinches my top of my belly button really hard which stings really bad. I don't cringe, I just squeeze my hands really hard.
