CHAPTER NINE

Alex POV
Elijah and I step onto Elena's doorstep, and Elijah knocks on the door.

It only takes a few seconds before Elena opens the door. And when she sees Elijah she becomes a little scared, but scared turns into confusion when she sees me.

"Elena."

"Elijah."

"We don't mean to intrude, we were hoping you might accompany us." Elijah says.

Elena looks around the house and back at us.

"We want to show you something." I said.

We drive into the forrest, Elijah driving with me in the front seat and Elena in the back.

"I forgot how much I missed this land." Elijah says whilst getting out of the car.

"I can't even imagine what it must have been like one thousand years ago." Elena says, in that annoying voice of hers.

"You know your school was built over an Indian village, were I saw my first werewolf." Elijah says, walking forwards with us trailing behind him.

"The town square was were the natives would gather to worship, matter of fact near that was a field, where wild horses use to roam."

"That's incredible." Elena sighed.

I scoff at her.

"Hm," Elijah says, walking over a log, "Come."

Walking over into a semi tree free patch.

"Do you know this place too?"

I scoff again, of course he'd know this place as well, he probably knows the whole Forrest.

"I do, below us was a cavern I use to play in as a boy, connects to a series of tunnels that stretch across the entire area."

"Now that, is cool!" I say.

"Yes, it is indeed." Elijah says, smiling at me, whilst crouching down on the ground.

"That was nature's way of providing us with shelter against the wildness of the full moon, my mother said there must be a balance." Elijah says looking onward, I however look at Elena and she looks uncomfortable.

"Elijah, Alex I should probably go home-"

"I admire you Elena, you remind me of quality's I valued long before my mother turned us, it's not in your nature to be deceitful-"

"Well, it probably is, I mean she is a doppelgänger." I whispered to myself.

"And yet, when I asked you about your meeting with my mother the other night you lied to my face." Elijah says.

Elena looks scared, actually terrified at that moment and I smirk, that's what you get when you cross what's mine- wow, mine? Where did that come from?

Elijah looks over to Elena.

"It's not true." Elena tries to say but we all know it is.

"I told you that all your mother wanted is a new start."

"I can hear your heartbeat, it jumps when your being dishonest, you lied to me at the ball you are lying to me now, tell me," Elijah says threatening, taking steps towards Elena, "The Truth."

"I never wanted this to happen." Elena tries to defend herself.

"What. Elena." Elijah says starting to get pissed.

"We were told that would ever was going to be in that coffin was going to kill Klaus, when we found out that it was your mother," Elena sighed, "We didn't know what to think."
