Thomas' POV
I sit on the sand next to Brenda as I watch our little girl, Isa, walk near the edge of the water. I can't believe she was born just 4 years ago. Brenda and I have being good in the Safe Haven. So have the rest of us.
"Dada?" I hear Isa ask me. She sits in my lap.
"Yes my little Isa?"
"Who did you name me after?" I'm shocked at the question. I look down, thinking of the meaning of my daughter's name. Brenda rubs my shoulder for comfort.
"Well, you were named after three incredible people who couldn't make it here," I begin. I feel my eyes water. We stand up and Brenda picks up Isa.
"Isa, named after our friend Newt," Brenda says. "He was named after a famous guy named Isaac Newton. Dada and I agreed that we would pick your first name in honor of him. He was a hero. He was our glue."
"And now you are our glue," I take over. "Your middle name, Teresa. You were named after one of the bravest women I knew. She died saving us." I look at Isa. She nods to everything we say.
"You said three people Dada," she reminds me. I nod.
"The third was my first love. Y/N..." Brenda looks at me and sighs.
"Dada can't remember if he has a last name. We decided that Y/N's first name would be your last." Brenda's eyes water as well. I let a tear fall down my cheek.
"Was she pretty?" Isa asks. Brenda and I chuckle.
"She was not just pretty. She was gorgeous. Those Y/E/C eyes could shake even your tough daddy," Brenda jokes. I chuckle. It was true. Isa giggles. I brush a hair off her cheek. She giggles some more. I feel hands on my shoulder and turn around to see Jorge.
"How's mi familia?" He asks. Isa lifts her arms in the air, signaling Jorge to grab her from Brenda and place her on his shoulders. He runs towards the bonfire and yells to make Isa giggle.
"Careful with my daughter," I yell to them.
"You be careful with mine!" Jorge yells back. Me and Brenda start laughing. She intertwines our fingers as we walk to the stone monument Vince established when we first got here. It still has every name for every person anyone lost. I caress my fingers over Y/N's name. Brenda does the same thing with her brother's name.
"Isa is lucky to be named after heroes," she says.
"If we have a son, we'll name him after your brother," I say.
"And Chuck."
"We were able to name Isa after three people. Who says we can't do more for our son?" I laugh. I hug her from behind and rub her 3 month pregnant belly.
"We have no way of knowing Thomas," Brenda chuckles.
"We just have to hope." She nods as we stare at the wall.
"This is how we keep their spirits alive," She says as she takes a hold of my hand. "This is how we tell their story."
