"he's heated, she's breaking"

The day they broke up because of something stupid?

November 25, 2011

After dating for almost two years, their relationship had been going well. Connor spent a lot of his time with Joselyn at her apartment she shared with Bethany along with Joselyn at Connor's house he shared with Luke and a few other friends.

Joselyn sat on the couch of her apartment that night when after a long day Connor came back from work to see her.

"Hey." Connor greeted Joselyn as he leaned over and kissed her on the cheek before sitting on the couch next to her.

"Hi," Joselyn replied.

"What's wrong?" Connor asked curiously. Joselyn had been acting a bit off ever since Thanksgiving when she went to her parent's house, bringing Connor along with her.

"Look I just wanted you to meet my parents." Joselyn sighed.

"You knew I didn't." Connor said with a change of mood.

"I'm sorry. I just thought tha-that since we've been dating that I should introduce you to my parents." Joselyn said.

"Look I may have overreacted but I just don't think that I should've met them." Connor sighed running a hand through his hair as he looked at his shoes.

"Why not?" Joselyn asked after a moment of silence.

"B-Because what if they didn't like me? Would they make us break up? I've been through this, my past girlfriend's parents either don't like me or they just can't stand the fact that I'm dating their daughter." Connor said looking at Joselyn.

"But it's different, I just-" Joselyn began.

"If you don't understand, tell me." Connor said a bit angrier as he used his hand to turn her head towards him.

"I do, it's just that my younger sister got engaged to her boyfriend last month after they've dated for a year. My parents have been nagging me about how I should've gotten married first. How I'm the older one. How I'm not good enough because I'm not married and that you'll dump me after a couple more weeks." Joselyn finally said as he pried Connor's hand off of her.

"I just can't take it." Connor said standing up and walking into the kitchen.

Joselyn covered her eyes as she walked away from Connor to the kitchen to wipe her eyes. Did Connor even love her? She wasn't good enough, wasn't she. That was why Connor hadn't proposed.

"Joselyn," Connor said standing up and following Joselyn to the kitchen. "Jos, I love you. I really do." Connor said entering the kitchen to find her leaning against the sink.

"If you did, you'd of already proposed." Joselyn said biting back more tears as she stared at her reflection of the window showcasing the street lights and city lights.

"I-I'm sorry." Connor said. "Sorry that I was going to ask you to move in with me next week. Sorry that I'm not so eager to marry you. Sorry that I've been saving up money this whole time to rent an apartment and buy a ring. I wanted to do this right and move in with you for a year or so, then propose. Settle down before actually settle down." Connor leaned against the kitchen counter. "Sorry I'm not good enough for you." He said before slamming his fist to the counter causing Joselyn to jolt.

"I'm not good enough for you. I'm definitely not. So find someone who you love, okay? That will rush the moment he has to propose before having a stable income. You know I'm on the verge of getting fired. You know that. I can't stand that that's all you're thinking about, marriage. Sorry I wasted your time. Oh and you know what? It's actually is you, not me." Connor spat before grabbing his bag and leaving the apartment.
