Two Years Ago
JEON Junghyun is late.
The clock strikes 12 in the midnight and Junghyun is late for his shift at the mart just down the street. He speeds through the fairly empty street with his bicycle. He almost feels like Cinderella, rushing through the midnight breeze in anxiety and unsettledness.
Then his phone rings. Jungkook, it reads. He never calls me this late. He thinks to himself.
Managing to steer the bike with one hand, he picks up the call from his brother. "Jungkook? Everything al—"
"H-Help, I—There's too much blood." His bicycle screeches as he presses the brakes all of a sudden. Junghyun knows perfectly well what went down with Jungkook. He trained himself for years to deal with Jungkook's suicidal episodes but tonight he isn't there with him and both Jungkook and Junghyun are terrified.
"Where are you?" Junghyun rakes his free hand through his hair. "Kook, where are you?"
"I don't know. Uh, this place looks familiar, though."
"Okay. Can you tell me what you're seeing?"
Jungkook nods even though Junghyung can't see him anyway. "A bookshelf and a. . brown, rectangular clock next to it."
Junghyun sighs. "Jungkook, are you in your room?"
"Oh, really? Okay then." And the line went dead.
"What the hell?" Junghyun starts cycling again, aggressively typing in Jungkook's phone number. He lets out a big sigh of relief when a small 'hello' answers. "Keep your drunken ass on the phone, Jungkook." And the said male squeaks a quick 'okay' in response.
"Hyung, are you mad?" Jungkook asks, his voice breaking. Little does he know, his brother is aggressively cycling his bike with sweat stains already forming on his gray t-shirt.
"Yes! No, I—No, Kook. I'm not mad at you."
"I'm sorry, Hyung. I didn't think this through. I thought it would be easy." He says in the smallest voice, barely speaking. He's ashamed and scared at the same time.
But Junghyun paid no attention to what his little brother just said. He keeps cycling, eyes trained on the road. "Jungkook, I'm going to be there in 5. Hang on." A hum answers. "Don't hang up, Kook."
Jungkook sighs, putting his phone on speaker and placing it on the bed beside him. His eyes land on his bloody wrist, sighing once more. Stupid, he curses to himself. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Jungkook rakes his shaking fingers through his brown, tousled hair.
