The City That Burned

The stars shined above her.
There was nothing much to see.
The petals, they wither,
just like the booming catastrophe.

The pandemonium shook,
a dull grey with ash.
With one onward look
she beheld, the world in trash.

Enveloped in ember,
was the city she lived in.
There was not much to remember,
Just the haunting din.

She did repent her fury apart
For scorching the city she'd earned.
She'd loved it with all her heart,
The city that burned.
