Chapter 3
James
As the sun falls over the mountains ahead of me, I walk towards the river where I met Mia carrying my biggest flask. It's the closest place for water, the best place for hunting and my favourite spot. I jump on a fallen log that's lying in the way, The area seems quiet, the violent river roars in front of me.
I walk to the edge, clear ice cold water curls through the landscape. It's a beautiful day, the late summer sun warms my back as I crouch down filling the big flask. I close it and put it in my bag. I'm suddenly feeling watched, and as I raise my head I see several hunters looking at me from the river bank across from myself. The group watches me, amused if anything. They are most likely a search party for the missing men, a mix between a vampire and werewolf hunters.
"any luck today James?" One of the men asks. He has to shout so I can hear him. He wears the Vampire hunter outfit, a light grey coat with grey embellishments and spirals over padded armour. I'm not too fond of the hunters, yet I'll do anything if it means not going to prison.
"no, just getting some water gentlemen, and lady," I notice the female hunter in the back. She is pretty. Long, blonde hair, a slim nose, and sparkling green eyes. Don't be fooled by a female hunter's good looks. They make up for it in being sometimes deadlier than others, as it means they passed their calling. (what a human must do to become a hunter)
"why what's going on? You guys really are far away from home." I see trying not to let on how nervous I am. I may be able to sense any living animals emotion. I just hope they don't.
"well, a few of our best men have gone missing, seen them?" The woman asks.
"Ye, towards my place looking for this werewolf girl. I believe I have seen them heading towards the peak of the mountain. Said something about her clan being there." I respond knowing that I'm sending them on a wild goose chase.
"So, they are resting at your place?" She asks.
"Nope left my place about an hour ago. You might be able to catch them if you cut them off at the mountains pass" I shout as the tide ripples across the river and down the waterfall. They wave as the second flask I get out fills and nod kindly as they leave.
As soon as they are out of sight, I toss my flask into the bag and rush through the path back to the mountain I call my home. From the base, I jump up to the cave rolling in trying to cut off my momentum a little.
"Oh, hey" Mia looks up, she still lays in my bed, seems like I woke her.
Mia
I yawn. "Morning, glad your back I was starting to worry" I say. He smiles, but it just looks like he's trying to cover up that something is worrying him.
"morning," he replies curtly.
"What's wrong?" I ask looking a little concerned.
"Well firstly I got the water, then I had a run in with some hunters who were looking for the guys that chased you, us, yesterday and I may or may not have, no, definitely killed them." He says in almost one breath.
"I also buried them at the bottom of the mountain, I couldn't go far because I needed to seat to your wounds and now, I'm kind of blabbing" he twiddles his hands.
"Okay. Where are the other hunters now? The ones that were looking for the guys you killed?" I haven't felt that good in a while. Knowing those four men are dead are the best news in ages. Maybe I shouldn't be happy their dead, but after everything they did, I know that only a dead hunter is a good hunter.
