Before we start I am so sorry for the lack of updates on this I was heavily pocrastinating so I didn't have to think about this idk why I avoided it so much tbh. Alright here you go.
They had all fallen asleep somewhere in the woods. A little camp was set up so they could relax, but James thought they should have kept going. Sam insisted they stop since Charles had low stamina and couldn't go on for very long. After a few sex jokes, they had set up a nice little fire and laid in the grass. Dolly couldn't sleep very well, Sam slept like a rock, Charles snored too loud, and James was only half asleep.
Even though two out of four in the group were barely asleep, they had still been captured by sirens. They had led them away one by one into the woods, eventually to where they were bound and dragged away to The Monster's castle. Charles and Sam were easy since they were asleep, and Dolly and James were surprisingly willing to their illusions.
Dolly cursed herself for it. She didn't understand how she could have been captured! She didn't even sleep! She... She just thought it was Abigail catching up the join them! So what if she was tricked! Dolly knew she was still a strong warrior and that was all that really mattered.
James had just went along with it, barely even caring that his mother was somehow there, leading him away further in the woods. He loved his mother, and his mother would never do anything to lead him astray. Of course half way through the trip he realized it wasn't his mother, it was just a damn siren, but he kept walking anyway because he assumed that they would lead him closer to The Monster.
So here they were, trying to fight off three screeching sirens in the first floor of The Monster's huge labyrinth of a castle.
James was having trouble summoning any kind of weapon to defeat them, because every time he did an illusion of his mother would convince him not to. But he managed to throw a punch at her once, only to almost have a panic attack at her cry of pain and the tears rolling down her face. Dolly helped him out, whacking the siren with a pipe that was on the ground. She kept hitting it over and over, and eventually it changed into an illusion to Dolly, so James was able to take it on now. For some reason, he had no problem beating the shit out of an illusion of Abigail.
Charles kept getting confused about how was really Sam and who was the siren, so that was just a big mess. He ended up sitting down on the ground and letting Sam do all of the work for him. The other werewolf didn't have a problem with that really. Sam was just having trouble fighting off himself. It felt weird.
Dolly had no trouble. She had fought off sirens before, they were her own kind so she understood them better. It was easy to transform into what they desired to distract them for a moment. It didn't last long though since they were sirens and understood the formula, if that's what you wanna call it. Swiftly, Dolly thrusted her staff into the siren's chest, laughing triumphantly as it screeched and disappeared.
The sirens fled, probably running off to The Monster to tell him about their failures to capture the chosen one and his friend. James took deep breaths, rubbing his eyes and trying to pretend everything was fine.
Dolly dropped her staff and cupped his cheeks. "Hey," She sighed, "Hey it's okay, James. We fought them off. They're gone. Now come on we gotta make our way through here." James took deep breaths, nodding along. They had a job to do.
He could feel Aaron, feel his presence nearby. James got the invisibility cloak out of his bag and put it on. Sam said, "I'll check the lower floors with Charles. You two can go somewhere together or split up, whichever you want." Dolly nodded. She gently nudged James towards the stairs.
"I'll check the rest of this floor, you go upstairs, James. If you... If you see The Monster, do not reveal yourself or try fighting him. Try leading him downstairs so we can all fight him together okay?" She explained, holding his wrist. James nodded, but he had no intention of fighting him with the power of bullshit friendship formed off of circumstances. He loved Dolly, really, but he knew he had to fight him alone. Dolly let go of his wrist and James rolled the sleeves of the cloak down. He went up the stairs and began exploring.
"I'm not a creature to be messed with, Aaron Burr. But you know that, don't you?" His voice was chilling and dark, every word dropping the temperature just a little bit more. Aaron shivered on the makeshift bed, considering his options of escape. There was an open window in the tower, but it was the tallest tower in the labyrinth, high above the trees. There was no door, and he wondered how The Monster even got in here. How did he get in here?
The Monster was wearing a torn black tunic, showing off a bit of his arms and chest because of the tears. He also wore a dark black cape that seemed to float a little around him, like he was constantly controlling it with his powers. Aaron tried not to think that that was the case, because that sounds pretentious. He feared The Monster could read his thoughts. The Monster wore dirty grey pants and no shoes, letting his hideous clawed feet show. Aaron had always thought that the monster would be nicely dressed, wearing a new suit and polished shoes. But The Monster somehow looked roughed up and evil and yet also clean and prim like he expected. His hair was thick, curly, and beautifully poofed out.
Slowly, The Monster walked, or seemed to almost glide over to Aaron's little bed, glaring down at the man. He growled quietly, "So why do you insist on trying to defy my order?" Aaron had no answer, he didn't know how to. Suddenly, The Monster grabbed him by his neck (his claws went almost all the way around his neck) and dragged him to the window. He shoved him outside, holding him over the trees, and ground, and nature below. Aaron whimpered and held his wrists tightly. They were rough like the shell of a turtle and yet seemed to have soft fur like an alpaca.
"Tell me, Aaron," The Monster growled, "Why did you INSIST on training that little human? He's not worth anything. He isn't this silly chosen one that your camp hopes and depends on. He's a human. A pathetic, parent-less, hopeless human with no ability to defeat somebody like me. We both know that and you know it." Aaron whimpered as The Monster held him further out from the window. "TALK!" He ordered, scaring a few crows from the ledge nearby.
Aaron begged, "L-Let me inside! Please! I'm sorry I defied you, I'm sorry I didn't obey you! Please let me inside!" He kicked his legs. The Monster loosened his grip a little and Aaron froze, clinging to his arms like a koala.
He chuckled, "That's better. I prefer it when you don't squirm around like a fish out of water. Wouldn't wanna break your legs more right?" Aaron had almost forgotten that one of his legs was broken. Because one leg was broken, that meant two of his centaur legs were broken, because that's logical. He whimpered as he tried to move it a little. The Monster pulled him back inside the room of the tower. Next he pulled him to the middle of the room and let go.
Aaron almost dropped to the floor in pain. He couldn't put any pressure on the broken leg, so he weakly lifted a little and clung to The Monster. He sobbed in defeat as The Monster smirked and purred, "You need me." The Monster's voice sent shivers down his spine, and he was sure that this might just be the end of him. But with gentle and caring movements, The Monster brought him over to the bed and laid him down. He caressed his cheek, wiping away a few tears as Aaron sniffled, shaking and whimpering like a broken down child.
He watched The Monster glide to the wall. He looked back at Aaron one more time before turning back to the wall and phasing through it. Aaron sobbed in defeat once more and looked at the ceiling. He squeezed his eyes shut and put one hand over his own heart.
James was faced with a split hallway. Unsure of which direction to go, he was about to shrug and turn left. But just before he did he felt a sort of shock of pain through his leg. He was sure his heart was beating so loud that everybody in the forest could hear it. Slowly he looked to the right hall. James nodded a little and went that way, quickening his pace as he walked. He could feel Aaron near. He was alive for now, oh God he was alive for now.
"I'm not letting him kill you," James whispered, "Nobody's going to hurt you, Aaron. I promise. You're my best friend. I'm going to save you."
Little by little, he could feel his leg increasingly aching somehow.
He could hear James, through their hearts he could hear him. Aaron closed his eyes and tried to move his leg a little.
Little by little, he could feel his leg healing somehow.
