"Hello father what are you doing later”, said Anabeth”. “Why my precious daughter”, said the king. “I was thinking that maybe we can go horseback riding in the woods like when I was a child”, said Anabeth. “I’m sorry honey but we have no time for that and you know it, besides you are the princess and you shall not be seen riding a horse doing such a filthy thing”, said the king. “Father I don’t care what people think anyways I hate being a princess because it forbids me from doing things that I enjoy doing”, said Anabeth. “Tell me my daughter what things does it forbid you to do”, said the king. “Being a princess forbids me to sword fight with my friend William, horseback riding, going to the woods, and many other things that I enjoy doing and I hate it”, said Anabeth. “Well you have to be the princess you are, Anabeth you have to follow your mother’s steps”, said the king. Aaaaaaaggghhhh you’re so unfair, father have you ever thought about what I want”, said Anabeth screaming. “Yes, I do what’s best for you Anabeth and don’t use that tone of voice with me remember that I’m your father”, said the king with a mad tone. Starting to cry Anabeth said “I hate you”.

Crying Anabeth ran to her room and slammed the door shut. “I can’t be free in this palace I wish I could live in the woods and be happy doing whatever I want with nobody there to tell me what to do”, said Anabeth. “That’s it, I’ll escape to the woods and I’ll try to find the hidden palace of the Ice Witch and refuge myself there”, Anabeth said with an exited tone.

As Anabeth was packing her belongings she picked up her box of memories from her mother and found a little door on the floor it looked like it had a handle but broken off by something or someone. Anabeth pried it open with her sword hidden behind the big painting her dad had the servants hang up. It was dark, humid, and smelled gross. She lit a candle and headed down the steps being careful. When she got down she found a dark hallway leading to a big wooden door, she followed it and looked at the door with wonder.

“I wonder what is behind that door, said Anabeth”. She opened the door and inside ;was big books all over the floor, and drawings of beautiful dragons. She was looking at the drawings and noticed that it wasn’t the same dragon they were different dragons and each had names. The names were the ice dragon, the fire dragon, the stone dragon, the wind dragon, the water dragon, the earth dragon, the cloud dragon, the dark evil dragon, the gold dragon, and the storm dragon. There was also a little piece of paper with a caption that said that all dragon riders had a faint marking of a dragon wrapped around a sword on the right shoulder. When she saw the drawing of the ice dragon her right arm started to burn but very faintly. She put the drawing and the caption about the kind of like tattoo that appears on the right shoulder in her dress pocket and opened the big dusty book.

Inside were captions of each dragon and how the personality of the owner of the dragon would be in order for them to get along. The caption of the Ice Dragon said that this dragon needs an adventurous, kind, warm hearted, risk taking, brave, respectful, true owner. Anabeth was reading it and realized that the caption perfectly described her. Then she started reading a story about a dragon rider named King Arthur he was the first one and he tried protecting his dragon and the rest if the eggs and he did for some time but he grew old and died and no one was left to care for the dragon. So numerous kingdoms began a war to see who would get the dragon it lasted 5 years until someone slaughtered the dragon so that the war would be no more. later on there were more marked ones and so that a war wouldn't occur again a which casted a spell on all dragons so that they would die along with their riders. Dragon slayers didn't want to risk it so many years later they slaughtered every existing dragon and egg before anyone could do anything about it. People believed some dragon eggs still lived hidden somewhere and were waiting for their rider. Anabeth then shut the big book quickly remembering that she had to meet William in the woods so that they could sword fight, practice shooting arrows, and knifes.

She grabed the book and the rest of the drawings and ran through the creepy hallway and up the stairs and into her room. When she got to her room she hid the things behind her mirror and graved her weapons. She then sneaked out her window and ran alongside the roof of the castle until she got to the ladder that leads down to the ground. She got on her horse midnight and rode into the woods; she could feel the fresh air flowing through her loose hair and the sound of midnight’s hooves hitting the ground. She then got to the place William and her found when they were children.

It was a spot in the woods that was surrounded by tall trees and made a perfect circle, it was also by a bear cave but none lived in it that’s what they thought. That’s when she heard the sound of Blaze’s hooves William’s horse. She turned around thinking that William was going to be standing there with his horse but she didn’t see him. All of a sudden William and blaze jumped out from the top of the cave, Anabeth was startled and fell to the ground. William started laughing at Anabeth and Anabeth took out her sword and charged towards William but William took out his sword and stopped Anabeth’s sword from hitting him.

Anabeth and William were looking at each other’s eyes the swords locked together; suddenly Anabeth kicked Williams’s leg and got out of the sword lock. Then they started sword fighting having fun until one of them won the match. William got Anabeth on the ground with his sword pointing towards her thinking he had won the match. Anabeth quickly locked Williams’s legs with her legs and flipped him to the ground she got up and pointed her sword at him and Anabeth had won this time. They got up and took out their bow and arrows the started shooting at the target they had carved on a tree.

William I have to show you something. What is it Anabeth. Anabeth lifted up her sleeve and showed William the marking on her right shoulder. When William saw it he gasped. I was thinking about running away from the palace and living in the woods. But why Anabeth, are you not grateful of what your father has given you. I am but lately he just makes decisions in my life that I do not approve of. Anabeth you are crazy where are you going to find shelter here in the woods. I was thinking about going to the Ice Witches castle.

Anabeth listen to me if you go there she might do something to you haven’t you heard the rumors of her freezing anybody who enters her castle and giving up her eyes and killing her sister for more power. That’s the thing there just rumors nobody really knows. Yes but if something happens to you I don’t know what I will do without my friend. Don’t worry William I know how to take care of myself. Please don’t leave Anabeth don’t leave me alone I’ll never see you again.

You will William and you know I’ll never forget you. How do you know that? We’ve been friends since I could remember and you’ve always been there for me. That’s true but I won’t be there for you any longer if you leave. Yes you will not physically but mentally you will, you will always be in my heart. You will also Anabeth and never forget that. I have to go William its getting dark goodbye.

Anabeth started to turn but William graved her arm and pulled her towards him. Anabeth was about to speak but William suddenly kissed her. Anabeth tried to pull away but William griped her tightly not letting her go. When William pulled away, he whispered in Anabeth’s ear so that you don’t forget me. William got on his horse and rode away Anabeth got on her horse and rode her horse midnight all the way to the castle and entered her room through the window.
