Chapter 10

Megan pov*

I still cant shake the feeling of what happened yesterday with shane. I dont like him an i definitely dont trust him. i feel its best for me to stay out of his way and avoid him as much as possible. i got dressed (outfit up top) and went out to the main camp to get some food. when i got there carol handed me a plate with sausage. i go and take a seat next to lily.

"u-um guys so the barn is full of walkers" glenn said out of no where. Everyone looked up and looked at each other.

The barn is full of walkers, why what would they possibly need with that. Everyone stands up and rushes over to the barn. Shane walks up to the door and looked in for a few seconds then backed away.

" you cannot tell me you're all right with this" Shane said walking past rick.

"No I'm not but were guests here this isn't our land" he said. Shane didn't like. "this is our lives man" shame yelled.

"Lower your voice" Glenn said stepping in.

"we can't just sweep this under the rug" Andrea added.

"It ain't right not remotely, ok we've either got to go in there, we gotta make thing right, or we've just got to go, now we've been talking about fort Henning for a long time" Shane fumed.

"we cannot go" rick said.

"why rick why" he asked.

"Cause my daughter's still out there" Carol said.

" okay I think it's time that we all just consider the possibility" Shane breathes. he can't seriously believe that carols daughter is dead.

"we are not leaving Sofia behind" rick said.

"we'r close to findin this girl, I jus found her damn doll two days ago" Daryl said. "you found her doll Daryl that what you did you found a doll" Shane said. "Man you don't know what the hell your talkin bout" Daryl yelled.

"At least it's something, what have you been doing walkin around like your Lord and king, threatening people" I said slyly.

He looked over to me and walked over angrily. Imedietly I shrank back in fear of getting hit. Luckily Daryl stepped in and stopped Shane from getting any closer and they started fighting again.

I need to get away, I hate all this arguing it reminds me of home. I turn around and walk to the house to find lily. At least she is young enough to not remember much of home, I hope.

When I opened the door, lily immediately ran to me and hugged me. "Come on lily lets go take a nap" I said about to turn out the door.

"You girls can take the bed upstairs" Patricia said, I nodded and said thank you making my way to sleep.

I walk into the guest room and lay lily down, then I lay next to her and fall a sleep soon after. I have been really stressed lately and It's not good for my health cause I don't sleep well when I'm stressed and I need a lot of sleep. So this little nap was basically heaven. That was until I felt the tapping of my foot.

I opened my eyes in anger ready to yell at whoever is. But decided against it cause it was just Carl. "What" I asked.

"My mom said you should come out and do school work with me and lily". I looked up in annoyance and groaned rolling out of bed.

Me and Carl walked down the stairs outside to a picnic table between some trees, Lori and lily are already there. We sit down for a little while and do some work with Lori helping us occasionally but mostly teaching lily. " does Shane really think Sofia is dead" Carl asked. Lori looked at him with sadness, " Shane is just scared" Lori said.

"Of the walkers in the barn" he said

"Yeah" she said and looked off into the distance.

We sat in silence for a few seconds then Carl said " mom I'm not leaving till we find Sofia, and I don't wanna go even after that" Carl said.

"Well were not leaving Carl, why don't you finish those problems" Lori told him and he nodded, " I just think that she; she's gonna like it here, this place could be a home" he said. Lori then pulled him into her and gave him a kiss on his head.

I look down a little bit sad, I'm glad his mom cares about him, it's just I never got this kind of affection from my mom. I look back at my work, suddenly getting dizzy and feeling tired. I just shake it off and continue my work.

We continue to work for a little while before Daryl calls me over telling me to follow him.
" Stay here lily" I said ruffling her hair. I get up and run over to Daryl.

"What do you want" I asked

"Come with me and carol" he said and we walked to the far side of the farm. We came soon some charokee roses. There was a big bundle of them where Daryl picked the one for carol the day before. I looked at them and looked around the area where I found a single one on its own.

I walked over to it and looked at the rose. "And that one bloomed for your brother" Daryl said. I looked at him then the rose. I picked it and looked down thinking for a minute. Then I ripped it and crumpled it up. After I threw it on the ground and stomped it into the earth.
"That is what happens to roses when they are picked too soon" I said and walked away.

I felt Daryl's eyes on me as I walked back to camp, I walked back to where I left lily and grabbed her hand. "Hey Megan I wasn't don-"

"Leave me alone" I yelled and walked away with lily in hand. I may have sounded like a brat but that is what happens when I'm sad mad and tired.

I sit lily under the tree by the house and look around the property. I don't What at but I just started staring in the distance. I didn't even hear lily saying my name I was so zoned out. Then everything turned dark.
